I worked at Reclamet at the original site when I was 17 (about 28 years ago) My dad ran the tyre bay. No racking in those days it the lowest level of cars were sat on top of 2 welded wheels and the second car precariously perched on top. Had some really good laughs with the small amount of staff we had ( I think it was about 15 staff at the time). It's great to see how well they have done as a company.

Wow - breakers yards were rather different when I was using them (1986 - 1996) - so clean & tidy now and in my early days I 😮had to remove parts myself from piled up wrecks. Health & Safety nightmare!

Reclamet is somewhat different to the muddy oil soaked breakers when I was three or four ! Walking around with my Dad, spotting Anglia's like Daddies 😁 can still bring the smell to mind ! Have been car mad ever since thanks to my late Dad who I lost in 2020 ! Discovered the channel around that time which helped me through a difficult time as I also had to take voluntary redundancy from my job of 33 years on health grounds in 2021 ! ( played catch up on all the past recordings ) Thanks lads keep up the good work, Will

Good job guys. Hobbyist detailer here: A rubber brush is great for getting hairs up; You're on the right track with the air gun but try your DA polisher - it'll velcro straight onto the carpet like it's meant to be 😉 For a quick deodrariser, spray with white vinegar and let dry. Once dried, no, it won't smell of vinegar Hopefully that helps

Good work again. The Reclamet operation is very well organised, a bit different to the 'traditional scrapyards' I visited many times. Apart from the vandalism, the inside of the car was a tip. It never ceases to amaze me how people treat their cars as a dustbin. Cars in scrapyards are bad for this too. Thanks Chris for pointing out that Robs wing mirrors are actually mounted on the doors!! I have a car with actual wing mirrors, a 1969 Morris Oxford Traveller. On previous 60's or 70's cars I had, they were no good for night driving as you got dazzled by cars behind so I removed them and fitted door mirrors!!

The boxes are end-of-life that we buy before they are broken down for recycling. All the pallets we use for parts are given to us by local businesses as are the cardboard boxes. Ripped cardboard is used as packaging filling. Where possible we recycle bubble wrap but we do have to buy this in to meet demand.

Mix 1 part fabric conditioner to 7 parts water. Spray carpets. The fabric conditioner releases the hairs from the carpet and smells nice too.......

Look into an air diffuser for the compressed air works a treat to displace whatevers lodged in carpets, fabrics and even to just blow something off in a tight space. What an operation they have there lovely turnout on this

Rob have you seen that car carpet cleaning “hack” everyone has been going on about? Cut a toilet brush in half and put it in your drill, then use that to clean all the loose bits in the carpet before using a vacuum… works wonders.

You can get those nylon brushes (like a bog brush) that go in a drill and lift dirt and dog hair really quickly. And a touch of Febreze would freshen it up a bit.

Hi guys! I used to work for a Renault main dealer and obviously the smart car is a twingo underneath that colour is a Renault colour, (flame red on the Renaults) and it is a nightmare to match , I’m sure we were told it’s a 3 stage pearl, the plastic/metal mix on the panels makes it even more noticeable, but that’s definitely normal for these 👍🏻

Totally agree about the colour mismatch, I have a 2018 Red Kia Rio and the plastic front panel has a slight copper tinge compared to the bonnet after 5 years! Your car's looking great.👍👍👍

For the carpet buy a cheap toilet brush and cut it to fit into a drill, works perfect.

For really bad carpets, I attach my polisher without a cutting pad to the carpet, put it on its lowest setting and turn it on. Similar to what you did with the air chisel and it works really well to vibrate the cheap quality carpets and loosen the dust. As the base plate is velcro it keeps your hands free to hoover and brush etc.

Another good video and about carpets I have never had a vehicle in last 40 years where you can get under the seats properly to clean properly but I do remember one van I had and when I came to sell it I was cleaning and found £18 and some odd change under drivers seat........ Chris would have loved it.

I use a roto hammer drill with a bit of 50mmplumbing pipe on the end and the vacuum end all duct taped in together and it works like the chisel but with one hand.

Rob, get yourself a rug Dr, I've got the 93306 and it works wonders with carpets, I use it on all the cars I sell, you can add detergent into warm water and it get rids of all the smells and is so easy and quick to use, highly recommend it 👍
