--------------------------------------------------------------------
This week we're putting some bounce back into the C10 Stepside frame. This stripped down, soon to be LS Swapped C10 is getting a brand new set of Airlift Performance shocks on all four corners. But before we get to bolting in the Builder's Series bags we need to do some fabrication. Dave is chopping and welding up our C10 cab to get rid of all that cancerous rust and Mikey is getting our new Porterbuilt hood hinges installed. Once our new Quick Performance rear ends comes in, we're able to jump back on the chassis to find our perfect ride height. With our rear and and suspension in place, we can slap on our Detroit Steel wheels and give the shocks their first real test!
Make sure to subscribe because next week we're beefing up our 6.2L LS3, fitting our cab and getting our chassis off of the chassis table!

I keep praising the workmanship of the team you have assembled. They deserve every bit of praise they get!👍 I also want to praise the amount and quality of the content you keep putting out on this channel. Each video is packed full of progress. Yet, you edit it down to just the relevant clips. This channel continues to set the bar VERY HIGH for other car build channels to aspire to. By far, my favorite car build channel on KZbin. Keep up the good work.👍😁 Since there is so much panel patch work done. Will you be doing a full paint job or will you attempt to replicate the patina?

Seeing the body work done THE RIGHT WAY (cut out the rust & replace it with new metal) reminds me of when a buddy of mine & me were restoring his 1971 Mercedes Unimog last year; we rebuilt almost all of the lower metal, it was kind of a mess, worth it though, it looks great now!

I've got 3 dream vehicles. 62 C10 Stepside, 82 C10 Squarebody, and 65 Mustang Fastback. I've dreamt of a Tesla swap, LS swap, or body swap on all of those. It's like you're going down my checklist of dream vehicles. S2SLA, now this. Next project a 65 Mustang Fastback body swap onto a brand-new Mustang? That would wrap up all my dream vehicles on 1 channel. Love this channel. You guys are great.

What was the deciding factor to go with the air ride shocks rather than the bags it was set up for? Also, the upper brackets for the front driver side shock may possibility be in the way of a bracket you may need for a steering shaft support if you end up needing to go with a three piece steering shaft like I did. I'll send you a couple pics on IG for reference. Everything look great! Looking forward to the next episode!

This build is looking good guys. That air suspension is sweet and silent. Just one question, is there a noticeable difference between the metal that’s been put in place of the rusted one and the rest of the car?

No. It flows pretty well, and it will be even more seamless once there's body filler and paint back on there!
@lunkydog

If you've setting the pinion angle at zero, that means you're sure the engine and transmission are going to sit dead flat too. At that point it'll need to be offset either higher, lower, or off center or your U joints won't live.

If you get a flat tire in the front is the lower shock mount going to hit the ground and cause a loss of vehicle control? I know DJM had an issue with this on their lower control arms back in the day.

Why aren't the headers symmetrical from side to side? Is the engine not centered in the chassis?
@SalvagetoSavage
@SalvagetoSavage 2 жыл бұрын
Headers generally aren't symmetrical as the drivers side needs clearance for the steering shaft. That difference for us meant that the drivers side clears and the passenger side mount had some overlap
