Phil had a great range back in the day, as he's gotten older and him taking all the drugs and alcohol has given him a deeper voice. They were my favorite metal band in high school. Still love their music. Dimebag was a legend, one of the best, he was buried with a famous guitar from Eddie Van Halen and in a casket from the band KISS.

Dime was a friend. One of the nicest people ever. Another friend was the bass player in the band when Dime got shot. My daughter was with Dimes daughter at a concert when he got shot. My daughter Jen found out first and didn’t know what to do. I said call her mom…horrible time. Dime had just found out that he had a daughter with his high school sweetheart, and they were just getting to know each other.

People underestimate old Phil. There is NOTHING that dude can't do vocally. People incorrectly assume he lost his voice after this album, but he just changed his style as Pantera got heavier. He's been hitting high notes throughout his career, along side blood curdling screams, gritty, distorted stuff, gutturals and more in his various bands. He's still got that belt in him, I'm sure. He smokes like a chimney, but I've noticed with his more recent gigs, when he's fit and sober, dude has limitless potential. It might take a little work to make it reliable again, but it's there. And, there's not a Pantera fan on the planet who minds if you want to rewind the solo and listen to it again 15 times. RIP Dime.

Vinnie and Rex's performance is just epic all on its own. When Dime goes into his solo they hold down the fort so hard. It's just all around epic, especially after the solo.

Dimebag was indeed one of the baddest, loudest and yet still one of the most tasteful and expressive guitarists ever to come into the public eye. Talent like his is increasingly harder to come by. The dude, and the rest of PanterA for this matter, were born at the exact right moment in human history to form one of the greatest Heavy Metal bands of all time. Good reaction. FYI, when you do more PanterA, don’t expect more songs like this. They just got louder and heavier as time went by. This is probably the most widely like song of their entire catalog but, I encourage you to delve deeper. Especially, anything from their two subsequent albums Vulgar Display Of Power and Far Beyond Driven. Two of the heaviest mainstream Metal albums ever!! 🤘🏼

That last note was harmonics. It’s a very difficult way to play harmonics but Dimebag seemingly played it with ease……he was one of the greatest!!!

For the general theme of the song, the 7 min version is a must lol It's about dealing with the death of a friend/partner and contemplating topping himself in order to be reunited. The structure looks to be the 7 stages of grief with the solo perfectly highlighting the sadness then chaos/rage/confusion. Not just is it a belter of a tune, but it's is clever, and put together really well in order to tell the story. One other commenter - a new-age metaller and his gf - put it perfectly: "that is a metal classic... I've never heard this song but I love this fucking song... That was fan-fucking-tastic... I've got chills"
