50+ years ago John Wayne was the epitome of the Hollywood western actor, but for the past 20+ years that role has been filled very easily by Sam Elliot. If Sam Elliot is in a movie and he is wearing a western hat and boots it's a sure bet that we will get a great performance.

I love Sam Elliot. I wish he and Tom Selleck would do one more movie together as two old cowboys. Hell, even if Sam would do an episode of Bluebloods I would be happy. I remember the Way West - a good (not great) movie with an exceptional cast. I remember that movie had "Introducing Sally Field" in the opening credits.

I'm so glad "Conagher" is so high on his list because it's my favorite of his movies. The first thing I ever saw Sam in is the "Mission Impossible" TV series in the late 60's to early 70's, he was a semi-regular doctor on the IMF team. I think that was a difficult show for most of the cast to really shine as actors, but Sam Elliott still made such an impression that he has stayed on my radar ever since. I hope he wins an Emmy for "1883." He should have won both Oscars and Emmys by now, goodness knows his work is as good as any actor who has won.

So it`s too real then? It`s not a "Family Show"...let the kids be kids and watch cartoons, let the adults have adult time and watch 1883...
