Total evisceration of Trump. I wish Sam would run for political office, I really do. Agnostics, atheists, rationalists and humanists really need more representation in government both in order to PROTECT religious freedom but also to protect the encroachment of religion into our politics, and no one would do a better job than Sam. We also have so few genuinely intelligent and articulate politicians in this country who are committed to objective truth and facts; Sam would be a breath of fresh air. Sam - I hope you read this post - please go for it!

After traveling back and forth across this country for decades I came to an obvious conclusion. I'd opine to my wife "If someone ever channeled the "angry/stupid vote" in America they'd take power seemingly overnight and with a mandate. There's a demographic of mean-spirited half-witted bigots who're just waiting for their "guy" to come along". Enter DJT, 2016. I hate it when I'm right (glad it so rarely happens).

Or the other tactic...but hilary etc etc. So through sheer delusion or false equivalence, trump gets away with one outrage after another. With the complicity of the gop, of course. It will be interesting to see how the meuller findings play out. Expect everyone on the right to downplay and disregard them.

Had some thoughts as I RE LISTENED to this video for the FOURTH TIME, as I [a single guy ] and cooking some Salisbury Steaks for lunch. It has been so long since I could sit down with some friends or even acquaintances, and have a nice discussion or polite debate with people who disagree with me on politics or religion. But the Fox News era and Trump era has produced people and a culture that cannot tolerate or be patient with people who have different views of politics, christianity, morality and money economic systems. How do I get to meet more people like Sam Harris or some of the posters who comment here, below? some of you commenters sound like decent people who are intelligent or at least willing to recognize wisdom when you hear it [Sam Harris }. This is why I have been alone for a couple of years. But it hurts. I am afraid to develop relationships with people because they don't want to talk about the deeper issues I want to talk about!!
@1995tom20106 жыл бұрын
To be fair with the Jihadist example. There are other motivations that they have often cited, you can read the letter by Bin Laden talking about a whole list of alleged Western crimes against Islam and muslims. But that doesn't take away from the fact that they are at least, in a large part motivated by "their interpretation" of Islam.

A pathological liar? Not even close. Is he perfect? Nope. Is he absolutely 100% honest? Probably not. He's the president of the United States of America. being dishonest is requirement of the job. Seriously, name one modern president that has proven to be more honest with the American than Trump? Hearing Sam say these things about Trump to then follow it up by saying he doesn't know much about politics. It's both disappointing and frustrating.

I think that plenty of Trump supporters concede his flaws. However those who do usually minimize his flaws. They say they don't matter or that they don't matter very much. They compartmentalize Trump's flaws and say something like, "Yeah but he lowered my taxes, or he is not politically correct, or he will protect the border, etc. They minimize the flaws and emphasize the one thing or few things they like about Trump and that they have in common with Trump.

Harris says the Left needs to abandon Identity Politics and all that goes with it. He's correct. The Left/Dems need to return to an FDR style of politics. True economic populism. Provide a true Safety Net, support job growth & workers, tax the rich and hold the rich & accountable for serious crimes and corruptions. Literally enact color blind policies that focus on helping 95% or more of the population. Let the Rich can go about their business without undo influence and power.

Trump's 'brilliance' is that he is so extreme he's outside our realm of experience and we don't know how to deal with him. To his supporters his pathology makes him appear to be one of them, someone who says what they want to say and do what they wish they could do!
@vonsuthoff7 жыл бұрын
Tom Tunafish... So you believe Trump is just diabolically "acting" like those he has carefully selected to be his demographic fan base, so to draw them into his master plan?
