Call me crazy, but Sam has some balls and some toughness you just can’t teach. This was a really good ND defense. Would be nice to see him go to a good situation like the Saints where he could really grew.
@12jswilson2 жыл бұрын
He's definitely a "gamer" for whatever that's worth. He's the first QB in this class I've watched that really seemed to elevate his team. Based on the blocking and the separation from the receivers, UNC had no business scoring 34 points. Howell has some issues with his accuracy and his pocket movement, but he's not terrible there either.
@kevinmason61302 жыл бұрын
He is my QB1. I don’t understand the criticism really. he is tough, can make every through, flashed some running ability this year, progresses through reads, is experienced. Of course his passing numbers went down this year with all of his weapons leaving in the draft. UNC football is not Alabama or Ohio state where a new group of 5 star recruits step right in every year…
@DankBirdGang522 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% I don't see what people don't like about him. The kid is just on it and can adapt to the NFL just as well as anyone else. It's insane the amount of criticism he gets and I don't know why.

@@DankBirdGang52 I like Sam Howell and think PHYSICALLY he is at the top of the class with Malik Willis. Sam is tough, strong, accurate, throws a great deep ball and is the youngest in the class at 21. But, Imo Sam plays in a simple, one or two read offense(seen a stat NC ran the most rpo’s in the country the past two seasons) and doesn’t make any pre snap adjustments you see other top qbs make. MENTALLY he has a big question mark. A lot of untapped potential which is a good or bad thing depending on how he develops.
@bolbyballinger2 жыл бұрын
The less obvious things usually tell the tale. His throwing motion is too long. Not the end of the world, but not helpful. He would seemingly prefer to be a runningback but doesn't have the speed to justify it. He'll be injured within five years the way he runs. His hips don't usually help his arm, gotta get more twist in them. The worst though is the double clutching. Good god, on almost every single throw the dude is double clutching which makes him take forever to actually get the ball out. He HAS to learn to be decisive even on throws that aren't the first read. And even on the first read and freaking screens he's double clutching. Alone these issues can be overcome, but together? It's a LONG road to develop for a guy who doesn't even have a cannon for an arm or cocaine in his legs.
@joshsmith35982 жыл бұрын
@@bolbyballinger This "runs to much" will get hurt isn't backed up by data. QBs suffer their worst injuries in the pocket. Lamar Jackson runs all over the place and rarely gets hurt. In the pocket? He got knocked out in Bills playoff game and this season.
@bolbyballinger2 жыл бұрын
@@joshsmith3598 Regardless of where the leg injury occurs the fact remains that a running qb losing speed is losing a much bigger part of their game than a pocket qb who loses speed.

I don’t know why but I initially wrote him off. Maybe I saw a really bad pass or something. But the more I watch the more I like. Def has a good long ball. Funny thing is he’s not fast but he has a knack for getting yards with his feet!

His eyes come from being down field, too easily plus he won't last in the NFL taking on linebackers he's going to have to slide way more. Good strong arm and when a reciever is available early he's going there a lot, I like that. He doesn't hold the ball too long he makes a decision and goes with it, mostly good decision maker Top 4 of QB's in this 2022 draft.

Arm strength isn't great, legs aren't fast, hips don't move, throwing motion is long, and almost every single pass takes way too long to get out because he double clutches it. The guy is a project but doesn't have the physical ceiling to warrant the undertaking when compared to others in this class.

@@DankBirdGang52 Watch the video again. The ball isn't moving quickly in the air (partially because he doesn't rotate the hips enough). He isn't a particularly fast guy.
