The main cure for depression is to be around good ppl without it. The tricky part is to find those people before you’ve wallowed so hard that they don’t want to be around you.

Eh. I’ve been taken pity on by good people without depression at the peak of my self loathing wallowing. You of course need to decide you’re worth living and contributing but THAT IS the battle - people treat it like it’s incidental, like “Oh I’m a video game fan and I really want to date a girl with brown hair and freckles, and I’m trying to get a degree in hotel management, and, oh yeah, I’m suicidal” but you have to treat the suicidal impulses as if it’s an addiction, as if it’s the central part of who you are. At the stage where you’re thinking of dying, the depression HAS overtaken the other you. It’s an existential, biological, psychological war that’s central to life. Fight it like a war. You are a soldier. The depression is your mortal enemy.
@stevendouglas3781
@stevendouglas3781 2 ай бұрын
@@humanmodeproductions well I’m not talking about pity. That’s the last thing depressed people need, that feeds it. I’m just talking about being around normal people in a normal routine. Whose frame of mind doesn’t include things like depression. Who treat you like you’re like them. Maybe it’s not a panacea, but it absolutely helps before the thoughts become overwhelming. You don’t want to listen to how depressed people view the world. It’s contagious.

Bro, setting up a planted freshwater aquarium is awesome. Don't do saltwater to start. There are awesome systems and taking care of fish is so peaceful and it honestly saved my life. Look up the aquarium hobby. Get a nice tank. Don't get those colored rocks. They will kill your fish. Use aquarium sand, black lava sand, or saltwater dry sand. The aquarium hobby is awesome. Ohio fish rescue guys have a cool facility to check out online. Converted a pool into a predator pond. If you stay at home a lot. Get an aquarium. Make something beautiful 😍

Less then 8 hours of good deep sleep every night really F's you up too, I had 6 hours or less sleep for years during high-school and college and recently I've been getting about 7 to 8 hours atleast half the nights in a week and I've noticed huge differences in mental and physical health/energy. Good sleep is such a game changer for mental health. You think you can "get away" with a few less hours or a couple all night stoner gaming sessions but it's when you start getting real good sleep you realise how much bad sleep was messing you up. Literally every other challenging aspect of life gets easier when you have had good sleep. I thought I was insomniac because I was young and stupid and easily convinced but really I was doing it to myself and had the power to change my bad habits and start getting my sleep cycle in check and now that I have started to get good sleep it's changing me for the better big time and cannot be understated. Makes me really feel for real insomniacs who have tried like me to get their sleep in check but genuinely can't, I realised I have the power to use my willpower to get my sleep in check and it works, but for actual insomniacs they have to go through bad sleep consequences with no way out and I really feel for them.

It can not be understated how irrational the human mind can be while thinking its rational with these things. I worked a pretty mind-numbing job for a few years and noticed that i would be thinking about suicide or thinking super optimistic for the future, depending on my mood. Sometimes, i even notice a switch on the same day. I can rationalise both views. I notice my brain usually goes more positive after having a workout earlier that day. Your subconscious really decides these things while your conscious is justifying wherever it goes. And lifestyle influences your subconscious.

i think theres a vicious cycle where people assume most people never have a "whats the point/is it worth it" thought and assume their experience is wholly different from most people. i dont know if i believe "things happen for a reason" but im like sams age and ive learned good things can randomly happen like bad things can randomly happen. recently started a new career and my pay isnt up to par, yet ive also had to find a new apartment. it took a while, it was starting to get hopeless, and because i put in the effort to really dig into listings and project my needs i found a place essentially perfect for me. i was getting pretty down about it. the whole networking thing is real, and all networking means is effort in social endeavors when you boil it down. some would say it wasnt random, i spent alot of effort trying to find a place, but i guess my point is sometimes you gotta WAIT bro. its not the end of the world.

Therapy is such a crazy grift. It may help in specific situations where the therapist actually has the same life experience like in AA, but the idea of going to general therapist always seemed so unhelpful to me. I once heard a Catholic guy say it was the perversion of the confessional. Instead of admitting fault and vowing to improve, they seemingly just shift blame to parents or society and endlessly litigate the problems

@Slawsers man I’m addicted to racing 1/10 scale RC cars lol off-road and oval, there’s like 7 tracks within 2 or 3 hours of my place. I’ve made so many friends doing it, it’s like a family! We travel all over the region running in points series and big races! Largest I’ve been to so far was had 329 entries. Ended up pulling a second place finish with my sprint car!

@Slawsers you'll find one someday, and I'm not just saying that. you gotta cast your net out there though, they won't come knocking on your door. I have periods where I think I'll be alone forever but then a few months later I'll meet someone cool. but you have to wade through a lot of not-cool people to get there. I messed up all these relationships, but I learn something new every time and each is a little less disastrous than the last. keep your head up bro don't worry

@Slawsers Dating apps are pretty good at finding new people looking for a partner. Go for the ones behind a paywall though, they're the ones with women who are serious about having a relationship and just not one night stands and free food.

Nature is the cure. Swim in the ocean. Walk in the woods. Camp out and have a fire with a friend. Canoe in a lake. You get it. But it works. Not right away, but keep doing it. It's not necessarily the sun (that helps) but it's seeing how much life is thriving. You're part of that. Trees and birds etc don't off. Why should you?

When I was like 10 I walked into the woods, just kept going, eventually made my way back but I didn’t really plan to run away or come back I was just thinking I wanted food. I was messed up like that for a while, every year I got older I would develop more complicated plans on how I could steal our car in the night and drive to a real forest just to see what happen. I was a real psycho so I would have done it, but I came to see later in life that I never did because it was just the idea of what could happen that made me feel something. Actually doing it wasn’t what would do it for me because I already felt like I was wandering around lost in some woods every day. Moral of the story uhh, don’t let the only mentioning of God to your kid be pascals wager. Your child is surrounded by wolves and they need real armor. Looking back on my life I see how each and every thing taught me something & led me to where I am now, but I am not special for searching after the truth despite my upbringing. I’m just lucky I didn’t get so assaulted by the world that I developed a dumb survival instinct tunnel vision on things that make me feel good and secure in myself.

Exercise and clean myself properly. I go alot on these hate rants tho.. still if you have a mental disability and always thinking negative paranoid stuff, meds are 100% the way to find god and love jesus, Amen

Sam is 100%. Get out be more active. Be out in nature and the sun. Stop with social media and all the crap. Limit KZbin. Watch more old movies or something, none of this new agenda crap. If you’re worried start prepping so you aren’t worried. Remember only you can make yourself happy. Stop worrying about everyone else. Only you should matter to you. Respect everyone and be nice as you can. That’s the only advice I can give after years and years of dark depression. I’m lucky to be here but only I could change myself.

Part of it is geographics. There are some absolute constants which always contribute to neurosis. First of all, realizing you're a fucked up creature and living it, if this seriously becomes an issue, is important although the people around you are programmed to enforce normal expectations. The importance is to firstly distinguish a balance between underlying moral motivators and what is deemed socially or culturally appropriate behavior. Creature comforts are important, which I think medication is too much of a substitute for. Go outside, but make sure ventilation and air quality and air temperature is good, I swear to God that's like 9% of the problem. The brain functions on oxygen. And a last bit of advice... I think the cognitive difference between genders creates way, way too much unnecessary confusion. There needs to be a bridge built across that schism (if it's too wide) with SENSIBILITIES that are more commonplace in living life, and might go unnoticed. Things like clothes, perfume, shopping, jewelry. Imo

I think I genuinely just must’ve had extremely low T when I was a teenager. I never got my levels tested, but I did get put on Zoloft, Lithium, And Quetiapine at 16. Before and after that, I lived with my girlfriend and her family. I never once used a condom, never once pulled out, and she never got pregnant. I was either borderline medically sterilized or had extremely low T.
