The school wouldn't agree to release the tapes unless I cut out about 4 minutes of material. Only one of the things they wanted cut was really funny, the rest was just the sort of stuff that school administrators really don't want to touch, I guess. Specifically HIV statistics and also an anti-military joke. Also certain student harassment sections had to be cut, which is reasonable and not a huge loss. Lastly, I cut about 10 minutes of dead air where I'm just staring at my phone or my papers like a MK Ultra shooter about to go active. Asperger's kid staring at wood grain and paper pulp texture while pissing his pants.
BIG thank you to these fine students. A handful were upset enough to walk out ...including the head of campus LGBT association I'm told, for real no joke... but for the most part people stayed and guiltily laughed at the things you're not supposed to laugh at. Even at an art school, many young people tacitly know what's going on--they just need a signal that it's OK to talk about.

I am an artist and I work in film and television, here are my informed list of problems with your points and knowledge (or lack thereof) on the matter: 1) DeviantArt is notorious for being one of the shittiest websites online, full of countless copycat cartoonists and fanfiction novelists. It's a cesspool of hacky phonies and furfags. To say that they are "incredible" and "immensely talented" is hilarious. I agree, all that Lion King tribute art should be hung in a museum. 2) "99% of artists" is an extreme, made-up statistic that you pulled out of your ass to make your weak point. That being said, most artists, including those that lazily cheat their way through a university (*AHEM* Sam *AHEM*), are shitty. Most of these wannabe artists treat art like some hobby and have no professionalism for it. If you treat art like a hobby will continue to be a hobby, and you'll have yourself to blame. I've watched this happen to hundreds of artists that I've known in life. 3) You don't know what you are talking about, you just want to defend Sam. When you eventually disagree with him on something then you will realize how much of a naive ass you've been.

I'm not being some snob, I'm defending college, and pointing out that Sam's poor commentary stems from his own bias. He should blame himself, not the school. They all just payed attention, and most of all, clapped when it was over.
