Photographing Elgol isn't as easy as you think it might be but you've done a fine job of capturing some great images.

Nice guys. Thanks for sharing. Been back a couple of weeks now from a trip to the North Coast and miss it already. So many wonderful locations !

Ah, we miss it too! I was lucky enough to grow up on the north coast (Durness) so I try and get back up there whenever I can but it's always a wrench to leave it. It was nice to explore a few more areas we hadn't been to before on this trip, we'll certainly be spending much more time up there in future if we can. S.

You certainly got better conditions than the day before , again beautiful location with some fantastic images , for me my personal favourite was the image at 05:41 , it had the mountain range in the background with some warm sunset light light coming into frame with the contrast of the blue tones of the sea and the shutter speed was perfect just showing enough detail and movement against the rocks, loved it !

Thanks very much Lee, we were really lucky with the conditions that night at Elgol, such a stunning place! You must get up to Scotland sometime, I grew up there and this was the first time I'd been to Skye too, absolutely amazing and there's still so much to explore! Thanks for watching! Sam.

Thank you Geoff! Such a great location, certainly one of the most poignant places we've visited. I'm sure we will all be back up there again one day! S.

I think from the tone of your voice you can tell how much you were enjoying being there...cracking evening & great images. I know people moan about honeypot locations but let's be fair, who wouldn't want to be there? If I ever get there again I want to find Jo Cornish's iconic boulder - and I wouldn't care a hoot waht people think about it - to stand in the tripod holes of a master landscape photographer would just do me thank you :) I listened to David Griffiths speaaking about your 1st vlog yesterday on the pubcast andhe summed up my thoughts better than I ever could about your shoot at that watereside Sam. Yes absolutely Alan! I must admit, I've avoided honeypot locations myself in the past (when we were in Iceland I specifically didn't want to go to Kirkjufell, and I'm not going to that waterfall at Glencoe any time soon either!), but sometimes honeypot locations are honeypot locations for a reason, and I would rank Elgol right up there! There's plenty of great images from this place, but sometimes you just need to go and see it for yourself and it really didn't disappoint, it's a spectacular place to spend an evening regardless of photography. We had an amazing evening here, and I don't give a monkeys if it's been shot before! H and I were both blown away by what David said about us on the Pubcast by the way, it really means a lot to have feedback like that and genuinely makes it all worthwhile doing this! We were very touched. S.

Great Vlog, Sky seems like a photographers wonderland. I'm curious about your choice of cameras, I would be interested in the differences between the 5d mk 3, and the lumix, what their strenghts and weaknesses are and if you find having 2 sets of lenses a hassell perhaps a subject for a vlog in winter. Thanks
@BosePhotography4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tony, the Lumix was actually only just on loan for this trip. Lumix have been running a loan scheme here in the UK so we thought it would be a good opportunity to take the system out and give it a go. We've been planning on switching to mirrorless for a while, but as we've only used Canon DSLRs in the past we thought it would be good to try out a different system before we fork out for an R5! I'll have a more specific video about the Lumix coming up (not really a review, more just how I've found using it), but we were really impressed, particularly by the image quality which was a big step up. Being so used to Canon, there were a few niggles, but only because it wasn't what we were used to using. I think we'll be sticking with Canon though, there's something to be said for staying with what feels familiar, and as we shoot both wildlife and landscapes the Canon will have us covered! S.

Really good series of vlogs I've watched a few now from your Scotland trip. Looks like you had some great conditions the images you've captured were fantastic 👍

Thank you very much Chris, we were extremely lucky with the weather for once. Normally when the 'holiday' word is involved it's a sure bet for torrential downpours in our case! It was just nice to explore a few areas of Scotland we haven't been before, but we'll certainly be heading back again in future! S.
