The Ribhu Gita (Chapter 26) ~ Advaita-Vedanta - Ramana Maharshi

Ribhu Gita means "The song of sage Ribhu", who received the knowledge from Parama Siva, the supreme lord. It forms the sixth canto called Sankara of the hundred thousand verse epic Sri Siva Rahasyam.
One of Bhagavan Ramana's Maharshi's favourite traditional spiritual works was the Ribhu Gita. He often referred to the Ribhu Gita in his talks with devotees and seekers, and is reported to have said that if one repeatedly read Chapter 26 of the Ribhu Gita one could pass spontaneously into Samadhi, or the natural state of Self- Realization.

I enjoy all of your recordings, but I can't wrap my head around Advaita Vedanta in general. What's the value of seeking a state of mind which rejects duality when we live in a universe saturated with duality? A universe in which everything is defined by its opposite? Even duality versus non-duality is a duality! It seems artificial and downright chimerical to think you can achieve a state of being in which all duality is negated. What am I missing?

It's not a matter of rejecting duality. It's a matter of recognizing through deep, direct insight in your own experience that duality actually does not exist in Ultimate Reality. In relative reality, there is of course duality - hence the name relative. Everything there is in relation to something and we don't have to reject or have aversion to this. We actually need to accept it to be able to function in this dualistic world. However, when we see through intuitive understanding, that duality is not the Absolute Truth, we can relate to it without grasping, aversion, or confusion. We are liberated from the illusion. That is simply what this teaching is offering us to meditate upon and understand in our Hearts. If we only try to grasp this with the intellect or rational mind we will go round and round in circles and drive ourselves mad! And, yes, you are correct - those who simply argue and postulate the truth of "non duality" in conversations and polemics are often simply dwelling in ignorance in their dualistic argy-bargy. Letting go of the discursive mind and all views and opinions is what is key here. Sending loving heart wishes your way 💜🌺

@@johnzielinski9951 Non-duality includes all of duality. Actually Advaita Vedanta is also a dual tool. Once you intuitively (and intellectually, if you are an intellectual person) understand AV, you can forget about it again, since it is just a fine tool on your pathless path. :-)
