Yeah I'm on both sides too. lol. But trust me, rooting isn't worth it. In 2016 I rooted my phone because my phone came with a lot of preloaded apps and I wanted to remove them and clear my phone's memory a bit. And rooting also allowed me to do a lot. I had access to many rooted apps, customizations, battery saving, optimizations and many things! But also messed up my phone like a hundred times. Sometimes I deleted my system files without even knowing, stuck on bootloop. Then another time my Google playstore detected rooted phone and stopped downloading of all apps! My phone actually got even slower performance wise after rooting. :( It might be an unpopular opinion but I think that using your phone as it is - is better than messing it up. In 2021 your phone has enough memory, enough cpu speed to handle some bloatware apps and even some phone doesn't even have any bloatware like OnePlus. So don't root.

For people thinking about rooting their phone there are a few things to keep in mind. Firstly is that Magisk hide let's you hide the fact you're rooted from apps that can detect this, and you can have the app repackage itself under a different name to get around the increasing number of apps that check to see if you have Magisk installed. However, if you root you lose WideVine CDM L1 which, amongst probably other things, prevents you from watching Netflix in HD. As far as I know once it's lost there's no way of getting this back. Secondly, and probably more importantly, John Wu (creator of Magisk) has said a few times that with the way Android is changing SafetyNet to be even more secure, he believes that in the near future it will be *impossible* to get around tripping SafetyNet is you're rooted. So there will be no possible way of using apps that rely on not being rooted, such as google pay, banking apps and various other apps. Unfortunately, restoring safetynet isn't always as easy as just unrooting, from my experience once you've rooted you have no choice but to stay rooted if you want to use apps that rely on SafetyNet. If people know of solutions to these issues that I don't then please let me know :) I love rooting but haven't rooted by new phone for these reasons

As an OnePlus user I have to disagree to most of the points in this video. Some points might be specific to OnePlus others maybe not but here is my experience (and maybe it helps someone in the future): The biggest problem to overcome for me is indeed Google Pay. I use it daily and after rooting it doesn't work out of the box. But there are many guides to fix it and I never had problems after fixing it once. Even with updates today it isn't hard to pass safety net or trick some apps into thinking that the phone isn't rooted. The warranty void is as far as I know specific for OnePlus phones: OnePlus did or still does let you root your phone and even shares the original OOS files in case something goes wrong while rooting. And since we are talking about OS, my next point is the update situation. I don't know if this is specific for some brands but i still get these OTA updates via my settings app. But since my phone is rooted I get a message telling me it will download the update completely as flashable zip. You then can flash it via TWRP and you will have always an updated phone. Keep in mind you have to prepare some steps to not loose root or access to TWRP (it's 2 or 3 taps in magisk). What actually is something that annoys me while rooting today is the new architecture of phones with A/B partitions. But even this is a very small problem if you keep in mind that you root your phone maybe twice a year. Long story short, especially for OnePlus users (and maybe other brands too) i think rooting doesn't get more difficult these days than it was before. I am curious about other opinions. Have a great day and thank you for such good videos Sam!

Is there much to gain in 2021 in rooting a phone that is still in warranty? Not sure I have seen anything the root can do that would benefit the majority of people so I suppose it is very niche? I think that once the Android updates finish and assuming you do not upgrade then rooting is worth the risk for the amateur person. Though iPhone users get six years of updates so that is no incentive to jailbreak. All in all, it really is for the techies that are PC literate and know what they are doing. I would not try this myself! No banking app is a bit of a deal-breaker.

Can you root a virtual machine? Or better yet, use an unrooted virtual machine to run GPay?

The only reason for me to root my j7 was the fact that i can change system sounds with my own,like low battery,system intro and outro etc,the rest was totally fine with emulators for example.Can it cause battery break with root? because my battery is kinda dying,it does charge but even if it is connected it starts to drain it like it isnt connected even if it is.

Rooting can be dangerous or safe, If you want to root your phone, be careful and read the instructions before rooting. If you don't read the instructions and don't be careful, and rooting, you can kill your phone. In prestigio phone at 3 years ago, i rooted my prestigio phone using lucky patcher, and nothing happened! Because i readed the instructions and being carefully before rooting. And now today i scared to root my new phone.

There are actually 3 types of a bricked phone. Of course, the Soft and Hard Brick, but there is actually a Super Hard Brick, where you flash another device's ROM onto your device. Trust me, it happened to me once when I wanted Android 7, but ended up flashing Wiko Lenny 4's ROM onto Wiko Lenny 3.
@joelvarghese3370 Жыл бұрын
It doesn't happen anymore as far I know. I tried doing the same out of curiosity and the zip failed to flash. I assume modern ROM developers take this into account!!
@bc100dev Жыл бұрын
@@joelvarghese3370 If you do that via TWRP or any custom recovery, it will obviously fail. Unless you have a MediaTek Chipset, where you can flash your phone via SP Flash Tool, then it can happen.

Rooting a samsung stock OS is risky as samsung has a security built into it called knox. If you want better root etc, I would stay out of samsung devices and plus samsung is starting to remove oem unlock option as they want everyone to stop rooting and use their ssmjunks
