I just watched your Solterra review. I'm interrested in both the X1/iX1 & the Solterra. Given you've tested driven both recently - which do you prefer?

@@NewZea1and oh those are very different cars. It all comes down to EV vs ICE. Charging vs Fuelling. Space wise besides the numbers they feel about the same. Personally I would take the X1. Not ready for EVs

@@SamCarLegion Yes, a true comparison is between the iX1 ($74k CAD) & the Solterra ($62K CAD). But North American isn't getting the electric X1. I just like the rugged looks of the Solterra :). Love the X1 too, but maybe the M Sport model. My question more about the perceived appeal & character of the two cars -- highly subjective of course. I also like the Evoque 😅

I was impressed by the size too! I was not fan of the expressive mode when I reviewed it. I miss the old idrive controls. However, the price has jumped dramatically. I bought a X3 xdrive20d M sport with tech pack and other options new in 2020 for £47k and the new X1 m sport without options is £44,360.

Great video, when I was in the 2023 X1 I found the front seats quite narrow strangely. First time having this experience, especially when I had a 1 series when I was at Uni.

I personally think BMW knocked it out of the park with the new X1. Nice design, good interior and a spare tire to boot, you don't find those anymore. Still few complaints, no physical buttons, strange open center console, the lack of customization on digital cluster, I want my round dials back!

I live in the US (Hawaii) and ordered it on 8/30. It was finally being asembled in mid October and arrived at the port on 11/7 where it still remains for it to be shipped. The price for the base increased $500 within the last few weeks from $38,600. I hope to get the black 19 inch rims that are exactly as shown in your video, as I have seen previous YT videos showing more of the stainless steel look with black rims . Excited for the wait for my Cape York / M Sport package with mocha interior as to when it will finally reach me ! Update (1 day later): well, I guess the US is not providing this gloss black wheel rims since the US website had nothing described as a 'winter package' (but describes it as 'bi-color', Style 871M) --- oh, how I wish those were the exact rims I will be getting but think it will be a mix of anodized aluminum with some black trim.

I have a 2018 X1 I have loved so much. I’m a short gal so the small size was perfect for me. Now it’s my daughter’s car. I just got the 2023 X1 and I think I’m going to love it even more.

None of the reviews I've seen for the new X1 mention that the base engine has almost 40 more pound feet of torque than the base engine in the X3 with only seven less horsepower. I'm guessing real world this does 0 to 60 in under 6 seconds. That's really good for this segment

We have had it for 3 weeks and really enjoy it. Same setup, but not the black rims Love the increased power, especially the torque, transmission is smooth, sport mode is awesome. Like the new size, very spacious, looks great on the 20inch. The little downside is the idrive system, taking some getting used to. We think it was the right choice (despite the high BMW lease rates)

We currently have a 2019 BMW X4 and when it's time to change it we'll probably downsize to an X1/Audi Q3 sized vehicle as the kids will have left home by then. But I do think cars nowadays have too much digital/electronic stuff in them which will go wrong and need repairing long term.

Thanks for the great review. I have the X1 (European spec 2.3i xDrive), but even with the full connectivity feature - I don't see the Spotify app. Any idea what could be the problem?

Very nicely equipped and design look clean. The overall exterior should stand the test of time. X1 is not the best in value but it beats the xc40.

Oh no the front seats are woeful! I daily a 2020 X3 and I had the new X1 out on test. The side bolsters were under my thigh, super uncomfortable!

Not sure if Canada gets the iX1 but I feel like it would have your power complaints sorted out. 313 horsepower and 364 pound-feet of torque. 0-100 in 5.6 seconds. not bad.

had a 2016 q3 quattro 184 diesel great but dsg was shit. got a 2021 x1 great car great engine bit of a sponge in corners , new x1 class above new q3 interior and exterior on another level

The grill is an improvement from previous models and other BMW models. I prefer the older separated grills. When BMW connected them, it looked like a heavy woman's bustier. I love the consistency of the design language in this newest model.

Would like to test drive one and see how the suspension is, I’ve spent a lot of time in the first generation, was very loud in the cabin and you felt every bump on the road This vehicle is perfect except for the hidden exhaust BMW please do not join the fake exhaust bandwagon

In car design that is significantly larger and puts the x1 in direct comparison to an original X3 it has grown in size so much and that makes it MUCH BIGGER than a mk1 X1 and not smaller

Hopefully the seats have been upgraded. I wasn't fond of the overall design of the previous model, and the seats were just horrible. They were very uncomfortable and had crappy materials. I get that it's the entry level vehicle, but it's still a bmw and should feel like one. I shouldn't have to get the bigger cars to get the nicer leathers.

A fresh breath of air for BMW. After an array of ugly products like the 7 Series, M3 and XM, they finally bring a handsome design. Powertrain is good, responsive chassis. It has some soul. Plus it enough room and amenities to compete. I see no reason to buy a Q3 or a MB equivalent. This and the XC40 would be my picks for the segment.

German cars are in Germany horrible expensive because they are leased to 85% from the customers and only the cheaper one´s with nearly no options inside would buy Cash or financed by a Bank. This X1 starts with no options inside and with FWD and 134 HP $ 45k, if you want a 2 L Turbo AWD and a nice exterior and interior you must pay over $ 60k, not bad for a small crossover.
