I'm a huge sequoia fan and have owed several 1st and 2nd gens, and I'd take that Gmc too. It just has way more functional and practicality. And nicer too inside. The 3rd gen sequoia is such a poor value the higher the trim. And reliability is still untested which would be the reason to buy a sequoia.

Owner of a 2016 land cruiser and now a 2021 denali. Yes I'll say Toyota rules over all others in reliability, the denali has been reliable so far and seen nothing that bothered me yet, albeit I'm at 30,000 km. Time will tell. My landcruisers at 150k, but I literally only changed spark plugs and tires. Denali just looks so beautiful, I smile every time I see her in the garage.

Toyota needs to offer an extended wheelbase option for the Sequoia. Also they’re bringing the Land Cruiser back (although not the 300 series) for year 2024. I’d love to see you do a review on that since the pricing should be closer to that of Yukon Denali.

Not sure I think this is a very good, unbiased review. I agree with some things like the ride, but the looks are subjective and I think the Toyota looks way better. Also, The second row is not that tight…head room is very similar (.5 inch difference), but in the video, you have the drivers seat in the Toyota back (you moved it up when you got in the front seat), you had the seats in the second row at their straight up position (they recline more to be equal to the Denali) and you are sitting as straight up as you can, making it seem like there is no head room. 3rd row head room is more compromised, for sure…it isn’t even close to the Denali there. 6.2 uses premium fuel (regular for the Toyota) and the 5.3 doesn’t compare with performance to the Sequoia. So…really, $20K more (I paid MSRP for my Sequoia and most dealers are selling them at sticker, just advertising with markup), more to operate, lower resale (significantly), and less gas mileage (Sequoia isn’t getting 19-22 like advertised, but I do get 18.5 mixed and I have a heavy foot). I don’t mind the shortcomings, but I can’t see paying such a high premium for the advantages of the Denali. Plus, let’s be honest, it’s a Toyota, so you get a better chance of it being an extremely reliable car than the Denali. You might try that, “it’s totally new so it could be bad” logic, but tell me what Toyota has ever been bad, even brand new models, in the past 30 years?

Their gas pedals was bad, they have safety cheating scandal over in Asia, their Bz4x is s***, and in other market, the toyota Fortuner/Hilux SW4/SW4 are known as roll over king,... I can go on and on about their bad side. Personally, i will never buy any toyota or even lexus, in my country, a Lexus Rx300 which have 2.0 turbo in!ine 4 cost as much as a BMW X5 Xdrive40i with M sport package (around 180k$), and what do you get for that Rx300? A pathetic engine and gearbox combo, a shitty ride, a noisy cabin and Lexus badges and tons of cheap plastic, worst car i've ever driven.

What about GM’s lifter / engine issues? Deal breaker for me. As for the Sequoia, it’s reliable but I hate the lack of space due to unflat seats in the 3rd row. This guy is definitely showing his bias for GMC. I am 6’4” and can fit in the back of a Sequoia relatively comfortably. I have absolutely no problems in the second row, with about 3” of headroom and more than adequate legroom. While he does have good points against the Sequoia, it seems as though he is manufacturing problems that aren’t really there in order to promote the Denali. Having pointed this out, I find it only right to say that I have already been in the market for a Denali and found a couple of his points interesting.

Well according to all of the 10+ year old Yukons still on the road today with original engines and the fact GM still uses the same tried and true power train, the answer to your question would be BOTH. Assuming the new Sequoia isn’t affected by the issues the new Tundra has experienced, they’re on the same production line which is the only reason the Sequoia still has a live rear axle in the rear in a 2023 SUV that’s supposed to prioritize passengers and their cargo. 🤷🏽‍♂️

The grand Highlander is even roomier than the sequoia. Plus the cargo space shrank significantly as well. It again has less cargo space than a Highlander. On top of that, the sequoia is now the worst handling and the harshest riding suv in its class because of the solid rear axle. The last sequoia had an independent rear suspension. And if you follow the car care nut he pointed out that the sequoia and tundra both suffer from poor quality and fit and finish problems.
