Hey, I'm one of those five. Play Higurashi everyone. And Umineko. And I really enjoy these horror game showcases. rpgmaker horror was a fandom I was a part of growing up, so those were just fun to see talked about and reviewed, but ds horror was something I didn't have much experience with so it was fun hearing about some of them and I've got some games to look more into now.

I was given Theresia as a gift because I like puzzle games. I have never talked to anyone else who's even heard of it, so this was fun to watch. Your list is deficient because it should have 999 on it.

is 999 really a horror game? i am the worlds biggest pussy and can't handle horror but 999 was completely fine for me
@MorklebBlack4 ай бұрын
@@katerinagagne1809 I mean, in the sense you’ve been kidnapped and a bunch of people are slowly being picked off by saw like traps? I’d say so. I didn’t find Theresia very scary either.
@katerinagagne18094 ай бұрын
@@MorklebBlack in the canon route the main cast don't get picked off, the closest it gets to horror is that one route where clover goes a lil crazy. it has thriller elements but it's not trying to scare you. anyways you can say its whatever genre you want but to me it was always just a story puzzle game with a tense atmosphere but not a scary one imo, it would be good for a story heavy puzzle game wheel or something lol. i added theresia to my backlog now so i can't directly say anything about it but just from watching the video i was getting spooked (i am a massive wuss)

So happy to see Theresia get some love. I played it in high school, and it was very formative for me as both one of the first horror games and first adventure games I've ever played. I haven't replayed it, probably because of memories of how frustrating it was to play on the bus before having a smartphone. I'd just gotten a 3DS, so when I was at school, I'd close the game, use the internet browser to look at a walkthrough, and reopen the game. Also, I'd say the Spirit Hunter games count as handheld because the first one was originally on Vita, and they seem to promote the Switch versions/ports more than the others. They're a bit intense to be easy to recommend, but if you can deal with extreme horror, they're really good games!
@MINMOMINMOMINMO5 ай бұрын
@@cascabels god, having to use the 3DS browser is so real. I remember my bus would stop at the elementary school first, and the wifi out front just barely reached it so I could get online for a minute or two. pre-smartphone walkthrough methods made us stronger as a people

I got theresia when i was younger but unfortunately the movement scheme gave me motion sickness (i know, it sucks to think i missed out on the game due to dizzy brain) so it was nice to see you go through and explain the story! I hope you'll be able to play spirit camera eventually! I still need to play it... i was so scared of playing it by myself as a kid that all i did was take the AR ghost photos instead of using the AR book to actually play the game... lol. I really should see if i still have it and finally play it myself. i really liked how most nintendo consoles had such innovative mechanics like AR and interesting controller functions. if i could make a suggestion, i'd love to watch you play Calling, the 2009 first person horror wii game where your wiimote is sometimes used like a cellphone and you have to answer its creepy phonecalls when not using it as a regular controller to navigate.

how about at wheel of "horror + a different Genre" so if it lands of RPG you gotta find a Horror RPG, or if it lands on Platformer you gotta find and review a Horror Platformer. Some quick Genre Ideas I have also include: Puzzle, Comedic/Funny, Farming, Retro, Shooter, Simulator, Visual Novel, Shmup (Something like Deathsmiles), Action, Survival. Collectathon, Metroidvania, Multiplayer. and so on. Tho I don't know what to do with games like both Deadly Premonition games cause both a pretty funny and also some sort of survival game. Maybe for those kinds of games you just gotta pick which genre fits best for it. oh yeah btw good video!

Honestly I feel like there's a weirdly rich vein of wii horror games.Not many of them are winners because it's the wii but the motion control gimmicks alone are worth looking at because they're all very strange: there's a ju:on the grudge game from like 2004 that's okay, there's Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and cursed mountain that I remember liking but I was like 14 when I played them so ymmv. There was also a bizarre game i can't find the name of that required you to use the wiimote to talk to ghosts like its a phone. It might be called calling? As for wii horror ports: re4, manhunt 2 and Fatal Frame II.
