Enthusiasm is one thing, but maybe their enthusiasm stems from milking this KZbinr for all he is worth. Dude spent an entire day in a previous video messing with the "BMW dealer computer" and still failed to identify the blown head gasket. In my opinion, and as the subsequent videos revealed, they should have: 1) Pressure tested the cooling system. 2) Performed the exhaust gas presence test on the cooling system. In doing so, I estimate that they could have identified the blown head gasket in about an hour. Instead, Sam had to do the block test himself. Maybe he is just dragging the entire fiasco out for maximum content creation and drama, but color me unimpressed with EuroCharged's diagnostic skills.

@@SW-qr8qe Not in this case. The damage is too severe. The machinist said the head is warped so bad that it would need to be milled down too much to make it flat, then the valves would hit the piston heads, and the timing would be off and cause the car's computer to get confused. Plus, since the engine overheated enough to cause the head gasket to fail in all three cylinders, then the block is probably bad too.

They get revenue from the ads (or the ones that are NOT watched by the people who pay for premium as well, so the poster loses nothing here) and then they include yet another one that cannot be skipped with a click (yes, you can move the track forward a bit but on slow connections that sucks) or "paid off." SOLUTION!!! There is no need to change the engine, level the head and the engine block, then go to water jet or laser cutting shop and make the head gasket from copper, as tick as you need to compensate for machined off metal on head and block, and voila you are al good :) Regards from Bosnia,

I would skin head until it is flat and put it together with like it should be. Timing is going to be fine they have point but it is not that much to make difference. Anytime you take head off for failure of head gasket you need to resurface it so this is normal procedure. In case of overheating you need to change valve seals so it will not burn oil. You should check oil ring as well for same reason. Put it together and enjoy driving it for. Do not listen those mechanics who doesnt have life experience only those from dealer book. This is why it s salvaged because they do not believe it will be fixed. The only bad thing may be oil usage later of you do not prepare for it.

Resurface both and install a cometic gasket. They can add thickness with their proprietary metal head gaskets. Both the block and head might needs resurfacing but the lost thickness can be added back. Not a deal breaker. Its worth a shot. Cometic gaskets are sold by Summit but you can call them. If you send the oem head gasket they will be able to make a new one but thicker. The gaskets are made in the US and excellent quality. We used them for a high performance applications many times.
