I'm not sure how good the money is from "Unnamed Car Auction"(I know who it is), but I'd stop working with them after they treated you like this. I know you're burned out on this car, but I also know if you choose to pick it up in time and make it run and drive that'll be an inspiration to us all. Honestly I do my own mechanic work but would never own a car like this, I watch the videos because of your admirable attitude when it comes to practically fixing things that're broken beyond reasonable repair. Unfortunately, the auction house is at the behest of the seller. They're just a 3rd party that helps with the listing and transaction. They don't have the time, resources, or knowledge to do a thorough inspection of every vehicle. They have disclaimers all over the site detailing such. The sellers should be made public so they can be banned after shady auctions.
@funkyzero
@funkyzero 11 ай бұрын
@@erickorff1919 the auction house in this case should be acting as a mediator for foolishness such as this. the car was misrepresented.. ie: the seller lied. did CP ban this seller? demand they re-run the auction with a proper disclosure? nope. so why pay the premiums at a place like this when you are better off just buying off of facebook marketplace? you can get screwed for a lot less money there. same reason i buy from amazon now instead of ebay. ebay wont back anything and hold sellers accountable. but hey, if CP wants to get a name for not doing anything about scammers who use their service to rip people off, then so be it.

Thanks Cxxxxxx. I recently purchased a Ford Escape from Cxxxxx, supposedly only had hail damage. Took it off the trailer, put it in gear and the transmission light lit up. Transmission was ruined. I got the same reaction from Cxxxxx that Sam did, essentially, "stick it in your ear." . I sent it back to the auction to get rid of it and they listed it with mechanical issues. I lost $2,000. About 50% of what I paid for it. Buyer beware.

From a former 360 owner: That's the notorious HEAT EXHANGER failure, not a "cooler". As it both cools AND warms up the gearbox oil. When it fails its gonna be huge $$$ but its also PITA (expensive) to change for "preventive maintenance" -> many owners overlook this and rest is ... well ... what Sam is experiencing. Will ruin your gearbox, even rear diff as they share the same .... how to say it, "oil space" or "housing" or such.

Copart on the other hand though, created a storefront opportunity for marginalizers to enact live auctions on products that are not inspected yet they do things such as cause people such as The Samuel to end up being ripped off and wanting to go public about it in a way that he can't be sued by a wealthy billionaire that seems to own the entire mall.

You did the right thing in getting rid of the Ferrari, based on the facts as described. If you didn't have the passion for the car any longer then it makes no sense to expend money or effort to make it right. The one exception to all this for me is, having seen Andrew's LS swap Ferrari, I might have wanted to duplicate that as a long-term driver. I'm not a purist when it comes to foreign cars (not a collector), so I would rather maintain an LS Ferrari that ruins than a finicky all-original Ferrari with problems just waiting to show their expensive faces. Having watched you deal with your other Ferraris, it seems clear that you base your decisions more on $$ than on personal feelings about a car, since for you, there will always be another interesting/exciting car coming down the pike.

I think that you should have taken legal advice and pursued it with the auction….. whilst you are in a position to minimise loss and absorb some loss, others aren’t. As a home gh profile KZbinr you should set an example, if only to safeguard others falling in to the same problem. It also may fall under fraud laws and need to be progressed within the police arena. The key is intent to defraud.

Piston rings are springs. When they get hot, they lose their tension. Annealing them softens them and reduces their outward contact force with the cylinder walls. Softening them also allows them to wear faster. Being disappointed with the car would keep you from enjoying it as a luxury item should be enjoyed.

Most of North America has consumer protection acts you could write on the back of a stamp. It's a continent of scams and rip offs and when it happens to you, you're usually boned.

Hey Sam, I think you did the right thing with the latest 360. It was hard to hear not only transmission failure thanks to the cooler, but worn piston rings, as well. Ugh. Are you still working on the green 360 Spyder? I remember the top hydraulics were a problem. I’d love to see you driving around in one completed 360! You deserve it.

You have helped me so much to never have any interest in a car from an auction and to never want a luxury vehicle. Too much money for a potential problem vehicle and parts are ridiculous in price.

I think you did right to get rid of it. Sometimes, its better to cut your loses quickly than extended and they can get out of control. You got lucky the market went upside down and used cars were more expensive for a short period. So you did catch a break there.

What I don’t get usually when you buy a car from the auction you can take a look at before you even buy, when I as a kid I used to go with my dad to the auctions “clean title auctions not copart “ and we could even go days before to check out the car etc

Using pure objectivity to an extent a problem is that these engines sound so nice even when blown. You know where things failed and the auction house needs to lean on protecting the buyer. It can do that by requiring that any car costing more than a certain amount either pay for the house to take compression test or must bring proof that one was taken somewhere else. But its the seller's choice whether to sell as 1. Gold. 2. Silver or 3. Bronze level of fitness based on compression, transmission, and oil tests. Then buyers are told whether None, Gold, Silver, or Bronze tests level was achieved.

Weak battery aka slow turnover will effect your numbers sometimes, as well as Throttle not open wide. Maybe its diff on a Ferrari but in most cases you have to have the throttle plates open full and a FULL battery turning fast to get good numbers from your test.

If they are negligent or malicious to do that to you, what a simpleton can expect? They got away and will continue to do this to others. They should be held accountable to avoid this from happening again. That’s my two cents Sam… However, you did what was best for your own financial and mental health, so it is easy for us to ask you to risk with nothing to lose. #Respect and move forward!

How could somebody with a car like this, abuse and destroy it like that? I have seen Fox body Mustangs that have over 100,000 miles on it that are nicer than this. Sam you got balls I’ll give you that.

I have very similar sounds and symptoms from my 2015 Mustang Ecoboost. I’ve had cylinders and bearings replaced, then the entire transmission replaced. Both shops said the problem was fixed. $4000 later, it’s not fixed.

Definitely, you were right to get rid of it, though a bit late in the process, with a rebuild engine purchased. But, with a dream car, you always tend to spend more than the car is worth because it is not all about the money then.

Really glad we got to see the story on this one at last, Sam. Sorry you got burned on it though - real shame, because it looked like a nice car (and it is a lovely colour). You did the right thing getting out of it I'm sure and pleased that you didn't lose too much money in the end. I do think the auction house should not be getting off scot-free on this one though
