1:39 usually in anime one of the animators will fill in with yellow and blue where the lighting and shading will go to save time for the painter when it gets to them! that way they know where the lighting will be without having to guess or think too much about placement on a busy schedule and makes the whole product more cohesive in the end! this person seems to be cutting an extra corner and going straight in with the colours they want the shading to be, instead of just focusing on the placement :-)

4:29 Something people need to understand is that ART IS A LUXURY. My school held this event and there was an art gallery where people could buy art made by students. At first i was going to charge around $5 for the pieces i made (Price is converted from IDR) I then found out the school already set prices for all pieces depending on the medium and digital was $10 each. I first thought that was way too high, until my friend who said he would buy it for $5 decided to buy two pieces for $20. tl;dr If someone wants to buy art THEY HAVE the money to spend.
@safaiaryu12 Жыл бұрын
This is such a good point!!! I've always advocated for higher prices on commissions because young/new artists rarely value their time and skill enough, but this is a good point to add to that argument in the future. ❤

So you want to say that people must be rich to buy any art??
@Alresu Жыл бұрын
@@ngalethithieu4080 It's more like rich people tend to be the people to buy are. Poor people do not have the money to pay the higher prices (and often not even the lower ones) so they are rarer buyers anyways. Also rich people often want to brag. They are socially conditioned to want that. And showing of art you bought is a way of bragging. So: Less opportunity for poor people, more use for rich people --> More rich people buy art.

Yes, the shading technique can DEFINITELY be helpful. Not sure if it's just a manga thing, or if it's universal, but often, shading can get confusing with colour, especially if it's already a struggle area, because you get distracted by the tone, and you can't tell if your issue is the shading being wrong or the colour not working or there being too much or too little shadow. I use it sometimes, but not always, as I find it takes longer but gets a better result.

3:15 Ik exactly what she means! Lots of artists use the bucket tool to color their drawings and then clip stuff onto that and add shadows. However, when you bucket the lineart in the first place, you might miss spots like in small corners. Then, when you're done, you'll notice blank spots in the art.

5:04 also about the pricing thing, the people who want good art are willing to pay a lot for it, and the people who want cheap art will probably pay waaay less than your lowest rate. If you price it low the high paying ones will assume your art is low quality, and the low paying ones will still think it is too expensive unless you basically give them art for free. So neither group will choose you.

shadows before base colors is actually a pretty good tip (at least if you use layer modes for shading). It lets you focus on where the light will hit and all that good stuff before worrying about colors, kind of similar to doing a black and white painting underneath and then adding your colors using layer modes
@Saturnthe_Sleepyhead Жыл бұрын
3:03 - 3:25 I also set that layer as a color to complement the lighting I’m using and when I’m done with the base colors I like to lower the opacity a bit to make the colors look more harmonious and fit the lighting better. Hope this helps ❤

The grey layer as a clipping mask, to check if you've left any empty space, is something I do, though I often instead use a bright color that doesn't show up anywhere else in the drawing to make it more obvious.

This boxes shaming has to stop 😤They are great when you're learning perspective even for characters. If you draw only cercles for the hips or torso, you probably gonna end up with a flat shape with no side part. It's ok to boxify your bodies as long as you curve those shapes when you understand how it work (I understand why you say that but I think its important to say they can be really useful when you start learning, I was struggling hard with egg shapes bc I haven't learned 3d shape before that)

Before coloring in anything, when animating, the shadows and highlights are often decided on directly on top of the sketch/line art then looked over to make sure theyre correct and then finally everythings colored in, so that tip wasnt wrong, and honestly isnt that bad anyway since having a ton of color can be distracting when trying to do shading and highlights for some, so its a solid tip imo
