The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental Arab technique (or traditional cazaq singing, called Joqtaw), is a funeral lament, paying homage to the dead vocalist: Brilliant! The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio. The dead singer left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebyev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

Thanks for the summary. Certainly gives more meaning to the whole song/story. I thought that was Adam Driver on the keyboard; who knew a Sith Lord could play piano? ;-) Kidding aside, Dimash has kind of opened my ear and awareness to musical artists from Asia. I want to hear more. Really cool.

I feel that the proudest thing one can do as a vocalist is shock Sam Johnson. I feel like most people, even other vocal coaches, watching singers are like "Wow!" on so many parts. Meanwhile Sam is like "Ok cool, so this is what he's doing...". Dude has definitely seen A LOT of singing in his time.

All you have to do is look at his Adam’s apple when he is singing to really get an idea if he is lip syncing or not, and he doesn’t. YOU ARE JUST A HATER 🤡

You respected that whole 22 seconds unlike other react videos and i'm grateful for that, because I think that part must be heard completely to appreciate the feeling he's trying to express. I really like your videos, I can't comprehend some things because my main language is spanish but your analysis are objective without falling in the typical exaggerated gestures or rumble constantly, you go right to the point and I think that's what makes your reactions so interesting. Thank you.

the style that you like is from central Asia. Harmonic chant or difonic chant, Consists of a sound reverberation (generated between the pharynx and the mouth) that produces two or more simultaneous sounds with a slight variation (around a harmonic). In some cases, this variation can be modulated independently. Who do it until today are the Mongols and if it is too hard to do, I really love your analysis and seriousness. Thank you!

Here’s a dimash performance in China that I bet nobody has watched or seen or reacted to unless you read Chinese. It’s hard for his American or Uk fans to access because the title is in Chines, but I figured it out and now you can watch the best Dimash performance ever. I’ve watched over 50 Dimash performances and I can tell you that this ranks ( with me) as his best. The outpouring of emotions is beyond amazing-not from this earth, not from this planet, not from this galaxy.. but somewhere celestial where the angels reside. Please KZbin ( In This Exact Sequence) : “Dimash 20170610 oppo” It’s the first one with Chinese lettering a little over 6 minute. You will thank me for finding this rare one and reacting.

Really appreciate your take on usage of different register, where you said we are missing the point if all we are doing is based on which register we want to go for, rather than overall tone and expression we are looking for. Don't EVER make your videos shorter when it comes to pointers like this!! Really enjoyed it!

*Dimash knows well how to manipulate with his voice in the best way a vocalist can.. & you absolutely know how to react to such a vocalist in the best way a music teacher can.* *You warm many hearts with this reaction, Sam .. Appreciated.*

he can do vibrato above e trust me lol. It's a style choice he does. I've actually been to his Krutoy gala where he did Ogni Pietra live, and vibrated above that very naturally and strongly. I don't think anyone was sure whether it was a very skilled female soprano singing in the background or him lol.

Finally a reactor notices and appreciates the crazy run at the end. That has always been my favourite part and so many miss it. Thank you Sam :)

I have been watching Dimash since Jan 2017 and every performance has something new to take in. That is what makes people addicted to his music because there is always something new and better. That part 9.55 is something you don't hear in any other great performances. The Love of Tired Swans after this performance again has something new. Just unbelievable.
