My ex father in law (session drummer) played for Dean, Frank and Sammy. He said Sammy was the nicest down to earth man in the business. He hated playing for him, he said "Sammy never new how to get off stage, he didnt want the show to end". He laughed and said he was the greatest talent

I come back to this video several times every year to remind myself Sammy Davis Jr. is the greatest vocalist this world has ever known. Freddie Mercury is a very close second, but no one tops Sammy.

I watch this video often and what I appreciate most is his gracious manner. The combined entertainers today don’t possess a fraction of the the talent Mr Davis had and at the end of the song he thanked the audience for allowing him to entertain them.

It's so sad that in this day and age their is no performers like this anymore. A true legend. What baffles me is how him and some other singers from that time could smoke while singing and still kill it.

Of all 5 members of the RP, clearly Sammy was the most talented. The man could sing, dance, act, spot-on impersonations, and taught himself to play any instrument he got his mitts on and did all of these things masterfully. There was nobody like him before or since, though Jamie Foxx comes close.

The GREATEST ENTERTAINER IN THE WORLD...impersonations..played a bunch of instruments, acted, danced taught Eastwood and John Wayne cowboy tricks...born on 145th st in Harlem to a Puerto Rican mother and a Black father and there isn't even a fucking tree or a branch or a plaque named after him up there!
