Sammy passed away before the internet took off but, I bet he would absolutely thank the entire internet for their kind words. I'm related to the Will Mastin family by marriage. Although Will Mastin wasn't Sammy's blood uncle, he loved him as much if not more than his own father and took care of both of them until their dying days. Will had a condo in a tower just across the street from the Ambassador Hotel where Bobby Kennedy was assassinated that had a swimming pool on the roof. I remember swimming there at night and seeing all the lights of the city. I only met Sammy a couple of times because he was really never in one place for very long. Always working and honoring his commitments. He broke down a lot of doors to get where he was and hopefully the newer generations appreciate that.
@anastar376 ай бұрын
His good friend and work partner Frank Sinatra helped break down some of those doors for him. Marilyn Monroe helped Ella Fitzgerald when a club she played wouldn't give her first billing. Marilyn told the club she would take a front row seat every night Ella had top billing. And Marilyn did that.

I'm here today because I had a dream in which I saw this legend in all his musical and performing glory.... Sammie Davis Junior; a little man with the most enormous spirit and talents that reach up to the sky and back. I am here to acknowledge him; to remember that he once was and will ever be.
