Fan of Sammy since 1983. His voice was always like another instrument just like Robert Plant was for the Zeppelin. Look at Sammy now, still cranking it out at age 75. So glad he never smoked cigs.

Well I'm glad he never smoked cigarettes to. He should thank his wallet for that and he should be proud of his self. He ain't got to worry about smoking cigarettes because he never smoked cigarettes and since he never smoked cigarettes he ain't got to worry about smoking cigarettes lol so since he ain't never smoked cigarettes he shouldn't worry about ever smoking cigarettes because smoking cigarettes is a bad habit

He damn sure is. I like them both,, But Sam has made a more profound impact on my life with the songs he sang. I don't know who owns them but. They were magnificent. And Dave's were in his time. But those don't grab me like Sam's does. I'm real surprise at how the brothers treated these two greats right here. I'm glad they went own regardless of sound now. Cause it's changed for them.

I think Eddie borrowed inspiration from this song to do Spanked on the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge album in 1991, it has a very similar beat and chord progression. I think it's so cool that Eddie did bass on this whole album Sammy was forced to do--in ten days, to boot. You can hear him go crazy on it in the intro and later in the song. Also, who else thinks the music video is just plain AWESOME!?

The real question is do you think Sammy really cares? 11 albums before joining VH (8 solo) and 9 or 10 since leaving VH....... What has DLR done outside of VH? and what has VH done since? Sammy is the man.
@TheOnlyHollywood14 жыл бұрын
Yeah but you have to consider whether or not David and the other members of VH even need to do more. They all rich. It's most likely that Sammy wants to do more, unlike the other members

There is no way Sammy is a harder rocker then roth. Sammy is a way better singer, but Vanhalen had way more attitude with roth. Sammy made Vanhalen very soft. Compare running with the devil, Panama, hot for teacher, and drop dead legs to any Vanhagar stuff and it blows it away.

@1972Russianwolf Ha! Very good point. Even Gary Cherone did more outside of Van Halen with Extreme than David Lee Roth did. I think the reason David Lee Roth might've been the most compatible with Van Halen was because he needed them the most to be successful. To Hagar and Cherone, Van Halen was just a phase, but when Roth left Van Halen he became a forgotten nobody, pretty much. Fortunately, he realized that and has since returned to perform again with Van Halen and a "slightly" smaller ego.

Yes the video is "cheesy" now but it was a contractural agreement that Sammy had to fulfill for David Geffen to be released so he could focus on VH. Notice he had Eddie and the others on the vid and Eddie plays bass on this record. Happier times for Sammy and Eddie too.

Dave pretty much went into the toilet as a solo artist after the Skyscraper album in '88 & faded away. Each solo album he released was worse then the previous one. A Little Ain't Enough in '91 was the last time he had any kind of sales success as a solo artist & Davey boy was later reduced to playing free ribfests until Sam pulled his ass out of the dumps w the Sam & Dave tour in 02. Lounge Act Lee Roth quickly learned the hard way that he needed VH more then they needed him.
