As an American, I can confirm that most of us think Thanksgiving is dumb. And the only real reason we celebrate it is to catch up with short-medium to medium distant relatives and provide a buffer between Halloween and Christmas. No one older than kindergarten actually thinks of the historical meaning behind it, unless they wanna learn some really dark shit.
