Sammy we need more underwater trolling footage. It is legit the coolest thing you can show I reckon, and literally nobody else does it. I reckon a compilation of fishing following and hitting the lure from the underwater cam would be mental. Anyway, amazing vid as usual.

MOB+ is what I use to kill the boat if I fall over. Be happy to send you one from the states. Been fishing the gulf off Florida since in pampers. Aside from the satellite coms. It’s been a huge bit of gear especially when trolling high speed or slow. Almost fell off while pulling in my PB wahoo. Installed The MOB+ after that. Now 3 years using it every weekend never failed me yet. Keep them coming Sammy.

Was going to suggest MOB+ but thought someone would have done it! Looking at setting up another boat for single-handed and all your kit is on my list. The MOB+ or similar makes a lot of sense for SH fishing.

Nice to see you bring a couple of good fish in Sammy, and thanks for the update on the Safety Gear. I had a customer back in the 80's who told me about the time he fell overboard on his way up the coast from Sydney to the Port Stephens fishing comp, he hooked a marlin on a trolling line and on his way down the ladder from the bridge he bounced off the engine cover and ended up in the drink, he thought he was a goner but started swimming for the coast, about 1K away, the boat was still cruising along nicely but lucky for him it wasn't on auto pilot, I don't think he had one, and it always had a bad habit of turning to port. I'm not sure how long it took but the boat did a complete U Turn and he managed to be swimming straight back to it. He told me the adrenalin had fully kicked in and he managed to leap up enough to grab the top of gunwale only to have his hand slide to the end of it and loose the boat. He still doesn't know how he did it but the next thing he knew he was standing on the marlin board thanking his lucky stars. At that point he heard the PA Speaker from the Helicopter Rescue asking him if he was OK, they had spotted him on their routine flight up the coast. He told me he climbed over the stern of the boat grabbed a bottle of scotch, had a big swig and called the helicopter on the VHF and told them he was OK and then turned the boat north and went up tp Port Stephens and had a great time. Not sure if the footage ever made it to you tube but it was recorded by the helicopter. So the moral to the story is you may not be as lucky as he was, probably best to carry all the gear that you do Sammy, cause you never think it will happen but it can happen, very quickly out there.

Great vid Sammy! Those mackerel are great at shaking the hooks sometimes though hey. I’ve had that issue a couple of times with the hooks pulling using that exact rig for Spanish and spotties. I had a laugh at the “should have rushed him” 😂 Keep up the great work mate 👌

Sammy: Please stop screwing around when you get a hit! You mess with the cameras, you DON'T EVER SET THE HOOK PROPERLY. Any slack you give those fish, you are going to have a good chance of loosing! Never give them slack or a chance to turn or go deep! No time to mess with other rods, grabbing the other tackle etc. When you get the hit with a good size fish, let it run for a solid bite, cut the motor and SET THE HOOK and keep that line tight all the way to the boat. Remember, every 33 1/3 feet the pressure increases by 14.7 lbs per square inch per atmosphere. With the power of those powerful fish you can get to a pressure of hundreds of pounds per sq inch PPI and any slack and it will throw the hook. Hey, I'm 74 and did a lot of fishing all my life. Setting that hook and tight lines are critical with the monsters you catch. Your mackerel are twice the size of our school mackerel in Florida. We do have the bigger ones in the Gulf Stream current but not as big as Australia. I lived in the Philippines when Dad was in the Navy and the fishing was just like yours in that part of the Pacific. You are a great fisherman for one so young and Sean is going to be one of the great ones. I am a Jeep guy myself. Thanks for at least getting my brain back on the water. I do have a wonderful lake behind my house and 74 lakes in our fresh water chain. sm
