Just got myself a Merril! Love the camera, but I’m struggling with editing the files, do you overexpose? I don’t know how to work the shadows very well.

First of all you have to shoot RAW and download the SIGMA PHOTO PRO 6 from SIGMA site. I do not overexpose and depend on the camera metering. Of course, sometimes in harsh lighting conditions, you may use Exposer compensation. But Generally metering is good. Once you open the image in SIGMA PHOTO PRO, you can use the AUTO MODE to get a very good balanced picture which you can adjust more to your liking. Generally I reduce the sharpness to -2 , and use the white balance picker to get better color, and sometimes adjusts shadows and highlights slightly. Not much to do. I think once you edit more, it will become very easy. And also very satisfying to see the results. Then you can export the edited image( or save) to open in other editing applications if you want. I use Photoshop CC to finalize my image.

Why 200 iso? I always use 100 iso.

Yes you are right ... ISO-100 is the way to go ... specially for this camera. I used ISO 200 to get more leverage in shutter speed. The difference in Image quality between 100 & 200 is minimal in my experience. Thank you for your input.

I think ISO 200 is native ISO.
