This makes me better understand why the Knuckles show was the Wade show. They saved up for the budget on Shadow’s design, CGI, and animation because he is this movie's second protagonist/antagonist, just like he was in SA2. Hopefully, we get scenes of Shadow and Maria together on the ARK before the tragedy because that'll make the audience sympathize with Shadow and his motivations and hopefully won't cheer when she gets killed, which I understand is a cannon event for the character of Shadow

This confirms her death in the movie, but we don't know what leads to that unless you know your sonic lore. But I don't think she dies from a gunshot, which is to be expected since this is a PG movie, and they can't go too graphic and dark for the young audience, so it looks like she died from an explosion, but we don't know how the writers tweak leading up to her death. And tbf if people don't know anything about Shadow, they aren't going to guess that a little girl is going to die because we don't get a good look at the body that Shadow and Gerald are looking down on during the explosion scene in the trailer but Sonic fans know who that is

Obviously this is not a direct adaptation to SA2 but it’s definitely going to pay homage to Adventure 2 for sure. That is in fact the Eclipse cannon and when I saw that I literally teared up. I’m emotional even writing this because never in my wildest dreams would we have a Sonic and Shadow live action movie. This is incredible. We did it Sonic fans all across the world, we did it. Sam you did it by you persevering through it all and now we’re here. Also having Gerald Robotnik in the movie and ALIVE is such a good twist to this new story 🥹❤️

I expected multiple twists like this, yeah. Every movie has done it so far. Pachacamac being alive as of about 10 years ago for example, when in reality he lived thousands of years ago in the games. I was legit shocked, though, that they didn't change up the idea of Shadow being around 50 years ago. I was kinda expecting them to shift that time frame around to make it closer to the present day (maybe making Gerald be his father instead of grandfather), but that didn't happen here.

Here is my theory for the plot: Shadow awakens to get revenge on humanity and G.U.N. for killing Maria and ruining his life, and his plan is to launch the Space Colony Ark into, well, space, and have the cannon fire down on Earth. As for Gerald Robotnik, he is a twist villain, to where he reunites with Eggman and tries to convince him to join him in getting revenge on humanity for taking away Maria and he reveals that he tampered with Shadow’s memories making him think Maria wanted revenge. In the final act, we see the gang on the ark possibly trying to convince Shadow to help stop Gerald from enacting his plan, while we also get scenes where Shadow and Gerald share their pain of losing Maria, hence why they do what they do, but instead Shadow ends up remembering what Maria really wished for and that was to protect humanity and be a beacon of hope. In doing so, we see a parallel between Gerald and Shadow where Shadow strives to keep Maria’s promise and protect humanity and Gerald who will get revenge no matter what. I.e. Shadow is still really hurt from losing Maria and may never forgive G.U.N. for what they did, but he is reminded that just because some people are/did bad things doesn’t mean everyone is like that nor should they suffer from those said people’s bad decisions, which is what Maria reminds him of, while Gerald blames G.U.N. and humanity as a whole and is blinded by his rage, hence the final act plays out like the game. But it’s just a theory, a film theory.

It literally cannot be GUN this time, though. In-universe, GUN didn't exist until like 5 minutes ago. They were formed between the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. But overall, this is _probably_ how its going to go, yes. Gerald is probably the real main antagonist.

I CAN'T GET OVER HOW PHENOMENAL THIS TRAILER IS. THEY DIDN'T SPOIL ANYTHING MAJOR AND WE DON'T KNOW TOO MUCH ABOUT THE PLOT, UNLIKE THE FIRST MOVIE TRAILER GIVING US MOST OF THE PLOT. 4:30 I’m pretty sure they are in Sonic’s cave (his original home from the first movie) and I’m guessing it’s an early scene where Sonic ran away from home for some reason and went back to his cave, and Tom found him there for a heart to heart talk.

They made Shadow a rival to the _entire_ trio. I love it! It won't be like a copy of SA2 where each has a rival. Makes me wonder how much hardcore this version of Shadow would be.

My guess on the black hole is shadow uses "Chaos Rift" a move we've only seen in Chronicles: the dark brotherhood on the DS
