not sure if its all Samsungs, but i have a 55" 8000 series, and you can turn on the voice reader, change the speed, and pitch of the voice. its very nice and HELPFUL, if you havent already, check to see if it has the leatest software update, by going to settings/support. either maybe you didnt know about this option, or its something they've updated since this video

That's definitely a nice TV. In my living room I have a a plasma Panasonic vt60. I've had it for years and I absolutely love that TV. Little to my knowledge did I know that it was full of accessibility features. Only to find out when I went visually impaired myself. But on my TV you can change the speed of The Voice. I was thinking of buying a TV the same size as yours Sam. And I was going to install it on the wall next to my lazy boy for living room. So my family can watch something with me without having to listen to voice over. LED TVs tend to be too vibrant and bother my eyes a lot. My plasma is only TV in my house that doesn't bother my eyes half as much. I'm definitely going to look into that Samsung. Try to see it in person. Thanks for the great video as usual.

Good info! I was wondering what is a good “budget” set up for watching television? I’d like something with audio description or similar, tv and soundbar optional unless tv sound is good. Thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention samsung will do trade in & give you the credit for your purchase if you have a phone or tablet it have to be a Samsung brand & sometime apple as well I purchase my TV like I mentioned from them which was a 65inch that cost $1100 however I only paid $237 because I had a trade-in as well as a promo code if you talk to the right person they will give you a promo code or give some of your money back if you place a purchase with them when the TV is delivered

Hi Sam. Very helpful videos. However, your audio sounds like you're in a bathroom. You might want to record in a space without auditory reflection. It woudl also be helpful if you plug a voice source (such as that you used in this video) into a mixer. This would give you a far more professional sound to match with the video and content.

Yeah, this wasn’t the best audio! I was recording in my office which has hardwood floors and no sound dampening fabric anywhere. When I record in my studio, which has carpeting and curtains, it’s much better.

Sam, something that I dream about is a device that I can set an HDMI input and set an HDMI output, with a button invert colors from the input to output. It could be enough to gimme a nice experience with devices that there are no a great accessibility experience. (Like installing Operation Systems in a computer). Do you know anything like that? Thanks!

I'm not sure if that's the same TV I have, but I do have a Samsung with the same OS. I appreciate that there's accessibility features, but I hate the fact that the remote doesn't have a physical number pad. The Voice Control can be used to combat this, but that only works if there's internet connection. That must be annoying even for someone who can see the on-screen number list.

I have AMD. I have a 27 inch 1080p monitor. I built my computer in 2012 and the Nvidia graphics card does not support 4k resolution, and it appears that the Intel i5 chip of the same vintage doesn't either. To upgrade, I will need to install a new graphics card. I am not into high-end gaming. any recommendations?

My question is, does the voice guide work in all 3rd party apps, IE Netflix, now TV (YOU might not have that in the states), prime etc or are there limitations? Samsung are a little vague on its capabilities. Thanks.

I am very new to Samsung! I've always used the Apple TV, and now my family has decided not to use it because we got this TV and it has all the apps on it. Is there something like Siri? and is there an accessibility shortcut so I can easily turn the speech off and on?
@theblindlife
@theblindlife 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry to say, No Siri/digital assistant and no accessibility shortcut. The only to vision related accessibility features are the larger menus and screenreader. It's a pretty good screenreader but it's basically all or nothing, no shortcut on the remote.

@@theblindlife Actually for a shortcut to turn the ffeatures on and offf, you can hold down the mute/volume up vuttons, (which one depends on your tv I think,) and voice guide should come on.

Hey there, this actual model is a little old and might not be available anymore. However, you could probably just search on Amazon for a Samsung 40 inch 4K TV. I’m sure they have several available at different prices. The one I got was between 300 and $400. Yes, this should work with any type of computer. It’s just taking the signal through the HDMI and displaying it on the screen so the type of computer shouldn’t matter. As long as it has an HDMI port.

I’m legally blind due to my ever narrowing visual field (thank you glaucoma), and the great news is that my acuity is going too. I was born blind in one eye due to birth trauma and have been compensating my entire life, so I can make the jokes- I’m prepared to lose my vision entirely. I have had my 55” LCD TV since 2007 and some times I just give in and watch the captions and as much of the middle as possible if the TV sound isn’t clear enough (which a subwoofer really helps with), other times it is a little like watching tennis scanning around the TV trying to keep,u- with all the contributory periphery in a movie or TV show. That said, do you think that 4K has made a difference for you over regular 1080p HD TV? Are you having to refocus less, or is it just the accessibility issues that have mad viewing better? I’ve now taken to reading all my books using the Kindle app on my 12” iPad Pro because of the accessibility issues. Not everything is available in large print, but I can zoom with the iPad. We are a family of 5, so I couldn’t just buy a smaller TV just for me. Due to proximity of the couch to the TV I would still,have to stick to a 55” screen. I hope my wordiness has help you clearly understand how my situation affects me in my particular instance. Everyone’s constructive input is appreciated.
@theblindlife
@theblindlife 5 жыл бұрын
When I purchased the 4K TV I was hoping that it would make a difference for me. Luckily I was correct! There were certain shows that I watched on the 1080 TV that I watched on the 4K after I got it and I was actually pretty surprised at the difference. It’s hard to explain but they looked like real people all of a sudden! The best way I can explain it is that for me, it was more like I was watching people through a window rather than watching people on TV. Even though, in real life, I can’t actually see people through a window, LOL!
@ctwith3
@ctwith3 5 жыл бұрын
I did a little test. I watched a few dark scenes of Batman The Dark Knight on my TV, then went to my brother-in-law‘s house for dinner and watched it on his 4K TV. In some of the darker scenes all I saw was black blobs on my TV, but on his TV I was able to see some details like creases in a character’s jacket. It was quite revealing. No pun intended. Today I was looking at TVs at Best Buy and they really are amazing compared to the TV in my living room (the 32” set in my bedroom is even older and much worse- I try to watch it, but I usually end up just listening to it before I go to bed). I love the OLED and QLED TVs. The contrast and brightness just blows me away, as does the price. However, being a child of the TV generation, I am tempted to put myself deep in debt in order to enjoy TV at the higher level of vision of my youth. Too many choices. My son could use a TV in his new apartment, so I can give him my current TV and justify part of the high cost. Who knew poor vision could be so expensive beyond new glasses.

A new TV would be nice but a firestick would be way cheaper! It would indeed be a nice and usefull video to make. In any, case... my real issue is with my cable box... reading what's playing is a nightmare! Didn't find a solution for this other than get up and go close to the t.v.

You wanna talk about how robotic the voice on the Samsung TV is? The voice on the roku is much much worse! Tr'ust me! It is way worse than you'd expect. But I've learned to get used to it. You think the Samsung Voice is robotic? Just wait until you get into accessibility on the roku! It will make you wanna throw the remote out the window! Didn't happen to me, but it might happen to you. Somehow I don't even know how my mom is used to it! That or she totally ignores it. All she really cared about was, it has a screen reader. I am totally blind and the roku was easily accessible for me, and I learned the screen reader quickly. If you do get another new roku, just take my advice, it's worse than the Samsung voice. I don't know how my mom is used to it, that or I don't hear her complain about it. Maybe she is totally hiding it in her mind about how annoying she thinks it is, but at least she doesn't feel like throwing it out the window because of how robotic it is. Guess she doesn't care about that.
