Thanks, will go with the plus as my 5600g doesn't support 4.0. I do a lot of extracting of large files, large as in they take about 2 hours on my 3.5 sata drive. I also do other stuff like manipulating files that are 10gb-100gb+ in size which are written to another format, this sometimes takes 10+ hours and sometimes days on my 3.5. I am so looking forward to this new build as that PC is old, like 10 years old. I guess if you just game and do light work it isn't really worth it but for me it could be a hours different.

Are both m.2 slots have same speed as previously my understanding was that boards with two m.2 slots have one slot running slower than the other
@Cobuman
@Cobuman 4 жыл бұрын
Good question. That may be true with some motherboards; however, with this mobo it does not appear to be the case. One slot is supposed to use 4 pcie lanes and if sharing those lanes between two m.2 slots it would not be noticeable in this test. Assuming they are shared and limited to 4 lanes this would be noticeable when utilizing both slots at the same time.

Good question. As far as I'm aware there are adapters that allow you to use m.2 SSD with u.2 slot but only for a single SSD. amzn.to/33OtGsb The other adapters with 2 slots are for 1 drive over pcie and 2nd is just SATA speeds. So yes, you can run multiple 970 Evo Plus drives... it just depends on combination of adapters used if needed. Here is my video on m.2 adapter over pcie: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnPJeJt8qJeiiNk

@@Cobuman Hi, HDD as well as SSD get slower when they get "full". So if you have one drive in the test that is already loaded with a lot of data and the other one is empty... - the empty one has an advantage, what falsifies (correct word?) the results. @@shortbreadbakery If you were talking about old school magnetic drives I would completely agree with you... You are contradicting yourself by saying "full" and "loaded with a lot of data"... Unless used by another process any SSD will operate at it's max speed when tested under same conditions/method. The notion of solid state hdd being slower when it has data on it is simply ridiculous and nonsensical. Why would anybody buy an SSD that slows down over time? I would love to hear a rational explanation of what you are saying in which you have proof that SSD becomes slower when more data is on it...

Just ordered 2x1TB of these and I don’t even need them... Oh, well! Maybe I’ll make my Unraid server happier with them. I hate this hobby! 😂

not for all mainboards. If you have 2 M2 slots, often they have a different speed. You need to check if they really have the same specification

@@Cobuman well for example, i have some 970 evo 500gb and sequential read is 3560MB/s Sequential write is 2503MB/s, so a lot faster than your 250gb evo, so like i said, smaller drives are slower, and you have a tech youtube channel? lol
