I think the galaxy fold is the best smart phone I've used in the last 10 years. I love mine and consider it a great purchase for someone that is accustomed to treating electronics with care. As my daily driver since launch, I cannot imagine having to go back to a slab phone for daily use any longer. Of course, as with all smart phones since the original iphone, screen durability will always be something to add to the improvements lists for successive versions.
@TechDove5 жыл бұрын
People are hating on this thing like it isn't a first gen product, like Samsung could learn how to increase durability for the average consumers life outside of a factory\lab type setting, like Samsung could improve it without feedback from consumers whom actually have it in their hands, and if you're complaining about the price, it's a first gen product and probably not for you if you cannot pay to play.

I like the device. I think it’s cool. Is there ups and downs for it? Yup but does it make it the worse device ever? Nope. I have a galaxy s10 plus and a iPad Air 2 I got my s10 plus for my birthday in June for the bigger battery. Love the phone. I even like the altra wide angel lens.But now I really want the galaxy fold!!!! Might have to wait till next June. I will admit. The main front display is gonna take time gettin used to. I’m so used to big phone displays. But it’ll be easier typing with the tablet opened. Just might take time for it closed when typing. The device is really interesting.

You're completely missing the point of the outer screen. It's supposed to be narrow so it can be used ONE-HANDED. Samsung intended it to be like this. I'm guessing you've never used an iPhone 5S or earlier 4-inch phone model??? They're narrow and excellent for one-handed typing. Yes I wish the outer screen on the Fold didn't have chunky bezels BUT the current width of the outer screen is nowhere near as bad as some people make it out to be. Samsung should make a Note 10+ sized outer screen for a future Galaxy Fold 3 or something to cater to people who DO NOT like using phones one-handed.

I didn't know the the launcher didn't sync up between the screens, but I actually love that since they're such different sizes. It sounds amazing for them to not to sync up so that they can be more personalized for one's use cases. It would be nice if you could turn on a toggle for them to sync with each other though, but I definitely don't want them to force it. I quite like the aspect ratio of my Note10, it's just so much nicer for me than Apple's wider, shorter approach.

I... actually like the idea of the smaller screen being completely independent of the inner one. I'd rather not have my layout for a wide screen be copied over to a very small one-handed one.
@DrSwoose5 жыл бұрын
That looks great, but my main concern is burn in from watching KZbin videos, since 16:9 videos don’t fit the screen. I feel like the screen won’t look great after a couple years.
@PSYCHOV3N0M5 жыл бұрын
Most phones out now still deal with black bars on the top or bottom of KZbin videos no matter what because it's all dependent on the aspect ratio the Uploader uses. Plenty of KZbin channels have already switched to 21:9 aspect ratio. Most phones are 16:9 which means black bars on the top and bottom anyways. Therefore, I see zero reason to be concerned with burn-in while watching KZbin videos unless the channels you watch have a logo placed at the bottom corner of every video. Black bars anywhere shouldn't cause burn-in. OLED screens by nature will all degrade over time no matter what. Peak brightness will drop little by little.
@DrSwoose5 жыл бұрын
PSYCHO it’s not the black bars that cause the burn in. It’s more of a reverse burn in, where the inner parts of the screen appear pretty burned in, while the parts of the screen where the black bars are, appear overly bright and saturated.

I totally agree. This is the future. Heck it's what I've always wanted really a phone that can be a tablet too. The problems for me are three though. Price , power and durability. Samsung needs to lower that price point to around 1350. If you can do that you've gained a customer in me. Second the battery life needs to last like a tablet. Almost 2 days battery life, Or a 6000mah battery. And lastly durability. Most people will agree that they don't necessarily treat their phones like newborn babies and I am no exception. They need foldable glass in the fold to create screen durability that can't be damaged by your fingernails.

It would cost more to fold glass, notchless with under screen cameras, ip68, larger front screen. I can see the mouths dropping now for that $2800 device lol. But this device the only things I would change is the notch, ip rating and add a stylus if not a s-pen. Front screen size is perfect for me. T-9 texting is back in my life lol. I'm one of those weirdos that prefer a folding tablet and not a large phone. Oh btw, the fold 2 l, as you tubers call it seem more like a Fold mini versus a Fold 2 to me.
