Hi and thank you for the footage. A quick question. The wide angle lens is of particular importance to me. I use an osmo a lot for real estate jobs. 18 mil equivalent is not enough really. Wider lenses are essential. I would like to use a phone for convenience as they are already the controller/viewfinder. Every test I have seen on any phone with 4k shows frame skipping when panning when a lot of detail is in the video: trees and landscape etc. I am trying an lg g7 right now and it will do ok up to a point then in the middle of things will drop a frame when panning. I cannot deliver a video to a client like this and since it is random, I cannot use it as a tool except for emergency backup. How does the galaxy do? Is the state of the art there yet? has anyone used a phone with a wide lens that does not drop frames? I would use 1080 to mitigate this but pretty much every phone camera I have seen pixel bins down quite badly and leaves a very processed cartoony and not crisp looking video. Any advice?
@DaveWestMedia5 жыл бұрын
Hi Kirk The iPhone 11 range have outstanding video quality and the ultra wide angle video will be perfect for what you're looking to do. I did a video test for that as well and there were no dropped frames at all using any resolution. I did notice there are a few small dropped frames with the Galaxy, so as per your question I don't think this would be suitable. All of the new iPhone 11 range have the ultra wide angle camera and all record video the same way, so the base model iPhone 11 would be perfect. Hope this helps, the iPhone 11 Pro video test is here if you would like to see how the video looks kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6ilZnuJfbyBotE Anything else you need, please let me know 👍

Do you think it is possible to record in 1080p 60fps during 3 hours without stoping the recording because of overheat ?
@DaveWestMedia4 жыл бұрын
Be aware that although it can record continuously, it splits video into 4GB files - so it keeps recording but you'll end up with a lot of separate videos. I only found this out afterwards! Happens when using Filmic Pro on certain devices as well. If it's on and off recording, it should be fine - but three hours of continuous recording I can't be sure. 60fps takes some processing power, even for iPhone, and that means heat is generated. It's perfectly normal though, these phones go through hell in testing before release 😉

The HDR video is about equal - I personally think the S10e HDR video is better but it's all down to personal preference 👍 As for rolling shutter, the only cure for that would be a software update. With EIS on it's controlled, but switch it off and it's very noticeable, especially at 60fps

I understand that if you compare with IPHONE XR, then the iPhone is better in video tests?
@DaveWestMedia5 жыл бұрын
iPhone is better with front camera for sure, but for 4K 30 and 60fps I think they're about equal, having used both I can vouch for this. The HDR10+ on 1080 and 4K at 30fps is really impressive. But the iPhone edges it in 4K60 as the video codec is more stable (no rolling shutter as demonstrated with the S10 range - this can be sorted with a software update - but it's there for now and spoils the overall video). They both have their strengths and weaknesses, I call a tie overall for main camera's, iPhone XR clinches it for front camera video 👍 Thanks for stopping by! 🙏
@AndrRtlk5 жыл бұрын
@@DaveWestMedia In addition, the Samsung splits a video file of 4 gigabytes at the time of recording, and the iPhone writes the video without crushing. On the iPhone, I noticed the best smoothness of the video, but the Samsung video is not smooth and the Samsung sky goes to a white solid background, and the iPhone draws in detail the sky
@DaveWestMedia5 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to front camera in regards to sky details? The main camera on both have great dynamic range and get out lots of details from the sky. Having watched back the uncompressed video files for both there's very little in it, if anything at all. Both record at similar bit rates and have great EIS for video. But front camera on iPhone can be susceptible to over exposure due to the smaller sensor size. Still better than the S10e though, Note 9 is a different story though 😉 Yes, I noticed the S10e stops and restarts at 10 minutes and splits the files. To be perfectly honest, in a real world scenario that's highly unlikely to be an issue for the vast majority of users aside from those wanting to shoot full length feature films 😀
@AndrRtlk5 жыл бұрын
@@DaveWestMedia I'm talking about the main camera. The main iPhone camera is better in my opinion when I look at your tests. In addition, you can put programs on the iPhone with wide settings for video recording - shutter speed, bit rate, frames per second and much more, but the Samsung has only a limited amount in the settings and there are no such programs as you can put on the iPhone. The only thing that is better for Samsung is the audio track in the video file.
@DaveWestMedia5 жыл бұрын
It's all down to personal preference at the end of the day. Creator friends who have tested both feel the same as many others, front camera and 4K 60 = iPhone. All others = tie with extra points for the S10e due to the extra versatility out if the box with the wide angle camera, HDR10+ and better stabilisation. As I said though, it's all down to what you like more 👍 Low light video is a different story though! 😀 iPhone all day long in that regard but I have a video coming up showing the S10e video with all video options off using a gimbal, very surprising results. In regards to the programs you mention, there are literally a a huge amount available for all Android devices - the best being Open Camera, Filmic Pro and GCAM. Using these with a gimbal, the S10e is unbeatable. But in reality, the vast majority of users the S10e is aimed at don't know about or will never use these and will stick with the stock software, which has been tuned to give best results. Don't forget, the finished video you're watching is a 1/4 of the original file size - plus both were filmed at different times of day in different locations. If I can prise my wife's iPhone XR away (which was used for the videos), then I'll do one in the same place 👍

Sorry man, I won't be getting one - they're way too expensive and it's also hard to get one in the UK without having to import.. Importing brings extra costs which can't be offset later on, so unless I can get a loaner unit (highly unlikely) then I may need to skip that one, sorry ☹️

Oh no laggs and quite good stabilisation.

It's really good, only small issue for me is colour which can often look a bit saturated. But still some of the best video in the Android space. Thanks for watching! 👍

@@DaveWestMedia Thanks for fast reply. Can you change the saturation level? On Huawei you got 3 levels, natural, smooth, intense. I like this but the video quality is poor (laggs, blurry, too fast focus). The S10e is way better. Your Video was really helpful. You recorded the wind wheel. So I can detect laggs. And it hasn't. I think the S10e is interesing because its size. I like small phones. Does have the S10e now AI night shot? (4 secounds out of hands and sharp)

KZbin really messed up this upload, I agree it looks like it's been recorded to through a sandpaper condom

Thanks Maxim, I'm re-recording the video without HDR10 switched on as this is what has caused some of the video to look dark. Appreciate you translating, thank you 👍

Он сказал, что он перезаписывает видео без HDR10, так как некоторые видео выглядят темными

@@DaveWestMedia No problem mate. Always (sometimes not) at the disposal, if you want. I really want to buy Huawei P30 Pro, I really don't see any difference between Samsung's video, maybe cos I'm blind.

i wanted to like s10e but XR records so much better!!

It does! iPhone is pretty much the gold standard for video IMO. Although this is good video, I do think that video quality in general has dipped in Samsung devices over the last 2 years. Appreciate you watching the video, thanks 🙏

very bad video is almost all dark you need to learning how to work with the camera
@DaveWestMedia4 жыл бұрын
I know how to work the camera, the issue was with KZbin HDR/SDR processing at the time. Had a bit of a nightmare with it and their support team. I didn't have time to re-upload but I've actually finally finished re-editing and I'll re-release two separate videos very shortly, one with the SDR sections and one with HDR 👍

İphone 7 video quality is better than s10e

In some ways, yes. But recent updates have improved the video on the S10e a lot. Appreciate you watching the video, thanks 👍
