That sharp edges, reminiscent of a notebook, makes this phone unique. If Samsung made it round, then it wouldn't stand out from the crowd.

Eh, the sharp edges are annoying to hold for a phone of that size. Especially one-handed. It's fine only when you're comfortably seated and have two hands free to operate it but in any other scenario outside of that, it seems irksome. The regular S24 is just more ergonomically sound.

@@cdv9028It's a reference to the hardness of the glass, popularized by the KZbin channel JerryRigEverything, who is well-known for testing the durability of smartphones. If you have s24 ultra, get the "Samsung Standing Grip Case" or similar case where you can slide your finger behind the phone. I got this for free in an offer. This single thing is big improvement to how you hold the phone. You can now use it with one hand without worrying about it falling. This solves the "Corner" problem you have as it is no longer resting on your palm.

Indeed. At first I also thought "In what universe is their literal top of the line phone affordable?" but I do agree with the real point of having these features trickle down to the affordable phones. I kinda hope Dex trickles down to the A series phones too, they're already capable enough and all they need is to use USB 3.0 instead of being stuck in 2.0. Hell, I believe Dex will be used MORE by people buying the affordable phones if it can replace a desktop PC for browser and office suite use instead of only being in the phones bought by the people that are also the most likely to also afford a separate PC.

Sometimes I forget just how much functionality is baked inside these devices now. Granted, I don't see myself using a lot of them but it's still amazing to see. It also highlights the fact that a lot of these capabilities are what you actually pay extra for in these flagship+ devices yet most of the people who buy these either aren't actually creative enough or knowledgeable about their devices enough to take advantage of them and just end up wasting money.

But I'm definitely all in now. I also got the S8 Ultra Tablet. I am a photographer as well and the android filing system and instant connectivity has been refreshing. I don't believe any phone is perfect and obviously not as good as a dedicated camera. But for travel photographers the phone could still shine. I've noticed turning the exposure down a touch before taking the picture helps with the bit too bright processing.

I like the Pixel 8A, a lot of the really entry-level phones have processors that are too weak to last more than two years, so feels a lot like e-waste. Stepping up to the ~$400-range you can get a phone that lasts twice as long while being a much better phone for those years.

@@IansDrumsandBass Of course, and that's nice, it's just that I believe most people will have higher requirements than that, and will want to replace their phone once it starts to get sluggish, which likely means they won't keep it very long. Its one of the most negative reviews Ive seen and just comes off so whiney and talks about so many subjective things where it feels like the video is trying way too hard to come up with two negatives for every positive. I upgraded from a Note 20 Ultra and was previously an iPhone user and this is by far the best phone Ive ever owned. The screen alone is a technical marvel and as a heavy user, I don't have any issues with any apps, its incredibly smooth, One UI is amazing, Dex is amazing, gaming on it is amazing, pen works great as always, pictures and videos are great, though I think iphones are slightly better for videos in certain scenarios, and the way I can customize this phone to my hearts content along with all of the pros including the battery make it well worth the money. The thing with Samsung’s image processing since many years has been the over the top sharpening. Every photo, under every shooting condition must be sharpened to compensate for god knows what. Add to that the oil painting effect upon zooming in the 5x and the erstwhile 10X tele lens photos. Every year I’d sell my s series flagship and fall for the reviews praising how everything has changed and how the photos are excellent the subsequent year, only to be disappointed yet again when I’d bring the phone home and test the camera for myself. The reviews would get me every year so to speak. Hence I have immense respect for channels like yourself that call out the disappointing image processing and don’t make an extended 20 minute ad for Samsung in the garb of a review.

Disagree with rounded corner phones. Never once used my phone and thought it dug in to my hand either. Don't know how you guys hold your phones. Not going to lose corner pixels to get a rounded screen either. Guess iPhone users are used to that though with the big notch. I have not had GPS issues with mine either use it daily for that. I use the s-pin daily for smart select, copying part of screen shots, note taking, and circle to search AI. As for price it is high but with trade ins when first launched I only paid a few hundred dollars, and that was taken off by carrier discounts.

Wow 6:58, I still can't believe that's still an issue?!?!, is this just the S24 Ultra or does it still happen on the other S24 models. I had the Galaxy Note 3 and it was notorious for having GPS issues, I got so pissed during the peak Pokemon Go Era with that Samsung device. That's what made me switch to iPhone. I still can't believe that's still an issues in 2024.

Very well made review! Had seen few reviews before but never got impressed so much. Great job! “Spend Responsibly “ - cool❤ I think the photo “over processing “ is disastrous. There are also other glitches as you mentioned. Just one question-Do you think all these issues can be fixed through software updates? I think if Samsung wants, it can. Looking forward to hearing from you! Keep up the great job.

It's criminal how the overprocessing killed those pics of the sunset and capybara. I've been happy in general with my S23 Ultra but occasionally had similar problems and been frustrated by the inability to turn the automatic processing down / off without faffing around in the 'expert Raw' camera app. Shame that this is still an issue (or even more of an issue!) with the S24 ultra.

Let me tell you one thing : To learn languages daily, without classes just by yourself, there is no better phone thanks to the S Pen. The S Pen allows you to copy anything, and translate it. Now, the translation is only useful to know what you clicked on. But if you're inside the settings of your phone or any internal software part, you can copy it thanks to the S Pen. For example, I use my phone in Japanese and don't know yet every kanjis. So when I'm stuck, I pull out the S Pen, copy the sentence I don't get and then dive into a dictionnary to learn and remember. By using my phone in full japanese for months, the progress I've done besides talking with penpal friends, videos/movies and my self teach classes, is incredibly high. And with some good dictionnaries, I'm pretty sure you can do it with other langugages.

12:10 Hi Eber, I might be late to the party but maybe aside from minimizing the intelligent optimization you can also download the "camera assistant" module from good lock. Good Lock is an app containing experimental feature labs by Samsung themselves and you can get it from either play store or the samsung store. In the camera assistant you can toggle off the Auto HDR and set picture softening, which helps with oversharpening problem like i had in my S23 Ultra. There are also many other features there and probably, the Good Lock itself deserves its own video as it is somewhat game-changing for Samsung phones customization! I think they are also available for lower class samsungs as well so anyone can enjoy. Love your coverage as usual, perhaps one thing missing is I hope you pushed for SD card slot to make a comeback since this class of phone is so great at taking photos and videos, and those eat a lot of space 😅

Those photo edits are SOOO GOOD ❤️ The post processing issue you showed is also there on the Pixel 7. In a lot of scenarios the photo looks really good in the viewfinder, but the shadows get crushed when I take the photo. iPhone is the only reliable phone in terms of camera as per my experience so far.

Funny review. But now when he mentions that, i was wandering around shops even compared S24U to iPhone. The screen reflections was high on the iPhone. Dual nano-sim version of S24U works quite good (plus option to add eSIM) - and can't believe he hadn't do the research on that topic... That's the reason why it is a winner for me over the iPhone.

Having used mine for the last 3.5 mnths, i believe this is a fair review. The IG issue is a big thing for me. The aggressive PP on photos is a major problem. I have had the same GPS issues with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. I moved to the UK 3 years back and I had to use Google maps a ton. There were days when the device let me down completely and I was driving completely in the dark. I was considering the S24 ultra. If the same issue persists, I don't want to own the device. Period. What good is a 1300 pound phone that can't get a decent GPS lock.

I've had mine since they came out. And while overall I love the features of this phone, I have experienced multiple problems that I never experienced on my S23U. First, the phone keeps coming on in my pocket and making phone calls. Yes, I have security setup on the phone, so it shouldn't function without my finger print. But it does! It also deleted over 50% of my apps, without any direction from me. Still don't know how this happened, but it did. I've never experienced any of this on any other of my Samsung phones. Many times it also will NOT send a pic in a text or receive one. Again, never before... Most of the features work very well, and I have no complaints about anything other than what I've listed. But those are some seriously annoying things, and I am looking for fixes. Thanks to anyone who can point me to any. I still think it's the best phone on the market right now.

Did they fix the 4K blurriness problem previous phones had when you use the phone with DEX and a 4K monitor? I still have a NOTE 10 plus and despite the 4K hack from the Good Lock app, the 4K screen projection in DEX is still blurry compared to a PC connection.

Imo, Samsungs camera is better than the Pixel 8 Pro. Pixel has issues with white balance, turning warm lighting into cool and vice versa. The DNG files on Pixel doesn't have a profile in LR, so the raw files end up looking terrible and hazy. The 50mp photo processing is terribly slow, takes a solid 2 minutes to process after hitting the shutter button. The controls for ISO and shutter speed are also buried under several other adjustments, so you have to scroll all the way to the end.

I have this phone since launch and I still cant get enough of it. Expensive, but you get what you pay for imo, plus up to 7 years support is quite nice. Edges are actually pretty cool, the phone looks fancy, tho holding it with the finger on the bottom can hurt eventually. Camera is a bit odd with the post processing, can really saturate the pictures in a way it is quite bad, they need to fix that. Other than that I think it is a great phone specially if you are upgrading from older phone.

It's true, I've gone from flagships to entry level and mid priced phones, and I'll never go back to being ripped off. 😊 Even entry level phones are doing what flagships did just a few years ago. It's all more about ego these days. I just got to the place where I got tired of being ripped off - like I'd NEVER buy a brand new car. Drive it for one week, and you can throw 50k in the bin. The "flagships" are loaded with junk you just never use. It's marketing hype of the retail machine. Never again.

A few comments for all, about S Pen usage to consider I will agree they are not a must have, but, speaking as a former pocket pc user, pre IPhone, and as a Senior Citizen, I always consider stylus availability, a requirement for purchase. Think about your own Mom & Dad, grandparents, friends. Could their efficiency on a Smartphone improve/decline, simply on the availability of a functional stylus? Also, think about the aging worldwide increase in the number of senior citizens. Manual dexterity starts to decline, Rheumatoid arthritis can mangle fingers, making touch screens more difficult to navigate. Just identifying some issues many may not think about or be aware of...
