I really like this comparison. I've been vacillating between the Pixel 8 pro, the Galaxy s24+ and the Ultra. I think the plus has been somewhat underrated. It is the lightest of the three and has almost the same performance as the ultra. The lack of 5x camera is my biggest issue with it. I love the ultra, especially because of the s-pen. But the Pixel has almost won me over with it's smoothness, simplicity, nice haptics. And the camera beats out either Galaxy when you zoom in on photos taken with the main lens. I should sell on or two of them but can't decide... And yes, the battery life on the Pixel while falling short of either Galaxy is better than I thought it would be.

I just switched from my s24 ultra to the 15 PM. I love the iPhone alot more. While the s24 is the best phone I've ever had. The iPhone just works better with everything. The apple watch interface is better. Even if the watch faces aren't as great it's more fluid. I still kept my s24 ultra. But I'm really happy with the iPhone more. And with ios 18 coming out the gap gets smaller and smaller
@Äpple-pie-5k6 ай бұрын
The 10x superiority of Apple ecosystem keeps me on iPhone, but if it weren't for that, the S24 Ultra seems to look, act, and be, more modern and at the forefront. But yeah: continuity, handoff, cut-and-paste across devices, messaging on any device, faceID and touchID to automatically do 2FA and remember and fill in my passwords on every device, etc., these things are way more valuable to me than the slight differences in beauty, aesthetics, and modernity of the S24 in itself.
@forneverarrow2 ай бұрын
You are the most “to the point”, old school reviewer out there (along with Flossy Carter). I am using the 15 Pro Max. The thing is that between the iPhone and the S24 Ultra there’s little difference in quality and performance. My personal decisive factors are always 1) the feeling of the phone and 2) the cameras. I am usually changing sides every couple of years (my last phone was the Z Flip 4, the iPhone 12 before that and the S10 Plus before etc) because I like to taste the difference in the platforms after 2-3 generations. I am a tech lover, not a fan of a particular brand. This time I chose the iPhone because I fall immediately in love with the design. I don’t like the boxy design of the S24 Ultra and I hate the S Pen (I don’t like to pay for hardware that I will never use). But in general (OS aside) both are great phones. The cameras on the iPhone are better in point and shoot situations: are more consistent, more responsive and with 24mp output while the Galaxy cameras are more versatile thanks to its vast focal range. As a photographer, I feel more in comfort having an iPhone camera with me rather than Samsung if I have to go for shooting without my mirrorless.

@insidetechltd6 ай бұрын
I just wanted to make the point that they 'can' be equal with certain usages. Looking at my average screen on time over a couple of months, the Pixel was a fair way behind. So on average the iPhone and Ultra are still ahead. The problem I found with lots of online tests is people were simulating tests i.e. playing KZbin non-stop or testing a few different apps with the screen on the whole time. I said myself that the Ultra wins the KZbin playback test with the Pixel far behind. But that's not realistic - people aren't playing KZbin for 10 hours with no break whatsoever, people have their phones locked in their pockets too. So my results try to reflect more realistic usage and although the Pixel is still in last, it's better than a lot of people might expect

What I noticed with S24U, while you are in camera assistant app, and turn on picture softening to medium at least, quality becoming better and photos are less "smartphone-like" . Really good setting. Apart of it, 3x zoom in Ultra case is useless and Samsung should get rid of it and use digital crop only. I own Iphone Pro Max 15 and of course, it is the best phone out of these three there. As a person who prioritizes detail preservation and clarity, there is no wonder why it is the best camera for me. I am a Pixel 8 Pro user but I have had an interest in the Sony Xperia 1 devices for a while now and may swap to next year's model when I can upgrade. I think a lack of coverage of it by content creators/ reviewers on KZbin is partially why I haven't had a Sony Xperia as of yet, but I do understand it is very niche and expensive device with advanced manual controls that could be overwhelming to many. Also, the Pixel 8 Pro has its Magic Audio Editor that would have taken care of that wind sound, but I am assuming the test was based on what the camera catches directly from the camera.

I used some of "sibling" phones of those which you tested... From my experience, Samsungs S-class typically make a big difference if you use Auto or Pro mode... Pro mode looks much much more realistic but it struggles with dynamic range in some contrasty scenes. So it is good to know when to use Pro and when Auto. Google Pixels have the aura of making realistic looking photos but they do not retain contrast (too much HDR) and the colors often look much more washed out than the reality actually was. So it is the opposite of oversaturated Samsungs in Auto. And iPhones oversharpen to much (though less than older S23s in Auto) and the white balance is not always good. I like taking sunsets pictures but the rendition of sunsets is just horrible most of the time on iPhones. It just can't get the colors right. From my experience, the most natural looking pictures are from Samsung S-class if you use Pro mode. Except for that lacking dynamic range...

Ultra for gaming, iPhone for camera, pixel for simplicity. In Canada the pixel 8 pro is about 1500, the iP15PM is 1700 and the Ultra is 2200. So that jump in prices hurts a bit. I watched another camera review where the pixel added a magenta tint and the Ultra added a green tint to the photos. Seems like inconsistency on the manufacturing. So it may be "luck of the draw" there. I'd take the iPhone but the compatibility issues with non apple devices (not as bad as it used to be) is still a pain.

@@insidetechltd No its not, fingerprints are unique. Unless face unlock is a retina scan it can't be more secure than fingerprint. Face ID is not a retina scan. Remember that Face ID is not the same as face unlock (which isn’t as secure). The percentage chance of finding a matching 3D facial scan to unlock your phone is less than that of a fingerprint - that’s why it’s more secure. As I said before, the IR causing issues is only an assumption. To answer my own question, there is zero evidence of any issues related to the IR from Face ID. Through my in-ear-monitors, the iphone audio recording sounded better. The s24 audio sounded strangely scooped and unnatural.

Surprising enough S24 ultra is cheaper than pixel 8 pro where I'm from and I wanted to gi for the pixel. Great video 👍

I liked the video for its thoroughness, however it looked way too complementary in favor of Pixel. As a person who used Pixel and now is rocking an S23+, I might say the battery life is a twofold advantage for Samsung. I think you only simulated one usage scenario, while real-life use can be different and in every scenario Samsung has a way better battery. I am also surprised you didn't mention how Pixel heats up. I think Samsung can only become slightly warm on a charger, while Pixel is constantly warm and sometimes becomes hot every when scrolling Google Feed, not to mention more intensive tasks.

I swear i was going to cold turkey switch from Samsung to Apple. I used my wifes 13pro work phone during a power outage with my samsung at 5%. I could not use anything without a learning curve...decided any gains wouldnt be worth the thoughtless use of samsung UI i have. Wish they UI and app controls weren't so different.

In terms of design, I prefer the boxy look of the S24U. It's unique and very distinguishable among all other phones. Rounded corners are very common; all phones have that design. I prefer to be different

I'm going to buy phone... please suggest me should I buy Google pixel 8pro or samsung S24 ultra? Basically i need the phone for photography and videography
@MegaIkki136 ай бұрын
Last October I bought the pixel 8pro + galaxy watch €1300 = best photo and video but bad processor, bad touch screens, worst photo gallery (Google photo), AI processing too long So I decided to sell it for the more complete s24 ultra 1T, much better processor, amazing multitasking, but in terms of photo quality there is nothing comparable to 8pro pixels... daylight , x5 zoom, even 10x sometimes, and the google options , was amazing on the pixel... Speaking of photos, there is no comparison, the pixels are the best, for the rest Samsung wins by far!!

I thought you would mention battery degradation aspects cause of "after 6 months" in title, but sadly nothing was going
@insidetechltd6 ай бұрын
That’s a nice idea! Sorry I didn’t have it this time, I’ll bear it in mind for the future! It’s tough because the iPhone and Pixel were released a couple of months before, and it can be hard to use 3 phones fully over 6 months. I did the best I could, but it’s not the same as a regular person who’s using just one phone
@FuturePortal9116 ай бұрын
@@insidetechltd thank you for feedback. Yeah, i thought of problem that big tech youtubers cant use one phone whole year because they have ton of other stuff to test and review. With batteries for a lot of people its top 3 reason to upgrade to a new phone after slow operating and new features. The battery just draining and apple made it so easy to see and so nervous to check after a few months. Ive heard a lot of bad comments about battery life in 14Pro Max and 14 Pro especially, 15 p/pm so i thing it is very valuable to know, how good will your battery perform after a year or something

Most people don’t watch in depth phone comparisons. Those that do tend to care about these small differences, that’s why KZbinrs pay attention to these things. I agree the average buyer won’t notice, but that’s also not the target audience for these videos

Nope. Google should continue with their G series chip but make it with a TSMC node. Its easier to perform better with own chip rather than another company chip.
@insidetechltd6 ай бұрын
It's definitely not 'easier'. It's much easier to simply buy a chip from Qualcomm than to develop and optimise your own. But the potential with a custom chip is much higher, as Apple has proven. I don't believe that the Tensor G3 can outperform the SD 8 Gen 8, perhaps not in any area at all. I'm all for Google continuing to develop and improve, but if I had the choice for the Pixel 8 Pro to have the 8 Gen 3 or Tensor G3...i'm choosing Snapdragon
@mwj90806 ай бұрын
@@trollmaster5791I actually agree with you regarding Google sticking with their own chips. I like the idea of them developing their own chips over time and not just relying on the whims of Qualcomm. All they need to do is have TSMC manufacturing their chips and continue to improve it and they'll be fine. They need to also ditch Samsung made modems too.

Are you using the 12mp option on the s24?
@insidetechltd6 ай бұрын
Yes - the higher res modes lead to lower quality photos overall. They improve resolution, but at the cost of colour and dynamic range
@richardmacdermot94696 ай бұрын
I use the 50mp mode on the P8 Pro and it's amazing all the time Samsung needs to improve color accuracy overall but the dynamic range when using 50mp or 200mp on S24 ultra is really really bad. Green is highlighter green and brightness is horrible

Thanks for your video. I've been a lifelong Samsung user, but have now decided that I want to give iPhone a try. I'm familiar with iOS as I've got an iPad that I use for work. I do not, and have never cared, about customization so I don't care if Apple has less of it. My S22 Ultra is stock standard still to this day. I went to upgrade my phone contract over the weekend and almost got the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but a friend of mine (recently switched to Apple) suggested that I wait a couple of months and rather get the iPhone 16 Pro Max as it is 2/3 months away. My only gripe I have with Apple at this stage is that it is super expensive to switch to it's ecosystem. I'll have to buy a new smart watch as well to track my fitness, etc. I hope I'll be making the right choice. Samsung has been neglecting our region when it comes to updates. One UI 6.0 and Android 14 released in November 23 for my phone globally. We only received it in April 24. And similar with other updates. And I have a flagship that is only 2 generations old. On the old iPad I use for work, it regularly gets new updates. Sometimes even a couple of times a month. So I feel that as an Apple user I'll be looked after better in this department.
@insidetechltd5 ай бұрын
I think what i'd say is, yes, it is expensive. But it's also the best ecosystem in the world. Whilst some Android phones can out-do the iPhone...Apple has a lead on the ecosystem. So if you're not against the idea of being in it and are familiar with iOS and iPadOS already...give it a try!

To be honest I think your wrong on durability on iPhone. I had iPhone 11 pro and Samsung 21. I have drop my Samsung so many times, of course with a case on both. Never had a crack glass or stoppage of phone working Not so with iPhone 11 pro. The glass protector same thing. They break way to easily Do you know screen protectors are more detrimental to both phones Real world use, .I stopped using them. No crack glass Samsung pass, powered by Knox is so much better than pixel or iPhone for password and wallet, finger print scanner or pin . Believe me once you know how to use Samsung Pass, you would never go back to iPhone security or anything google has. My opinion, of course. It is just that I have had each phone for over 3 years. Seems I carry the Samsung far more
