I took down the red a little because reds seem to over saturate and blur the detail. It looks amazing now, sharp as a tack, very good color but the blacks need to go deeper. This would be a copy paste of some reply that I have written, but to the people who are saying the rting have said that the qn90b is a downgrade to the Qn90b. It is not, It is better on paper. One thing to remember that the qn90b got an improvement to viewing angle layer which is known to effect the contrast with local dimming, color gamut and color volume. It is confirmed using the native contrast which didnt change between the two model. Another thing is that the qn90b got a way better local dimming than the qn90a which can be seen using rting real scene local dimming video. Put the qn90b and qn90a video next to each other and tell me which one is better. From my observation, the qn90b is able to keep the square and circle perfectly lit without lagging behind while the qn90a does dim the square and lags behind (which can be seen in the video). Third thing, the qn90b can track the EOTF accurately (outside of game mode) while the qn90a over brighten the scene. The qn90b got a huge upgrade in brightness for the lower windows, while losing brightness in the higher end (lower window are more important for the HDR). Another thing that you can see is the qn90b having a lower real scene highlight than the qn90a while having over 600 nits brighter in smaller highlight. The reason being is that rting real scene video focuses mostly on high window % which favor the qn90a. Hope this help you understand my point.

However, you must understand how to apply these values to draw an appropriate conclusion. Their results are specific to the tests they conduct and do not always reflect performance in actual content. Additionally, every score they provide is a simplification of the performance measured, as it weights factors differently and draws an average value. Had one of these delivered the other day. I was concerned when it arrived with a huge hole in the box that went through to the panel. I remained hopeful that it would be okay. When I was able to unbox it with some help, I plugged it in, and it had a giant crack at the top of the screen, literally nowhere near the hole in the box, that area looked clean. No impact damage on the top from what I could see so I suspect temperature fluctuation. It was heartbreaking that Samsung don't take better care of their flagship products. Styrofoam should cover the entire panel not just the corners, and there should be an insulation layer in the packaging to protect the panel from extreme temperature changes. Their solution was to purchase a new TV, then refund me that amount when they receive the broken one. Idk why they can't just do a "replacement" but that's what I had to do

I would prefer the 43" on the QN90B as I would use it for movies and PC use. I also read that the QN90B 43" can do 144hz on the PC which would be a nice bonus as well. The one HDMI 2.1 port is throwing it off for me for the QN90A but also read about the flaws in both like dse, blooming, etc. I ended up ordering an 8k/4k120 hdmi splitter for the QN90A but as I mention I still can't decide to keep and open the 90A or get the 43" QN90B with the more features. @@TechWithKG One of the visual features of the mastering monitors is that they produce a brighter fullscreen image. Consumer displays usually hover around 600-700 nits fullscreen. Don't forget that OLEDs have their cons too. One discriminator is $$$. Potential burn in issues for my application (computer monitor), consumer reports of panel tint problems, but mostly price was the reason I declined an LG G2 and opted for the Samsung QN95B. The other LCD panel in the running was the Sony X95K. But the Samsung performed marginally better across all metrics and was a little less money. I discounted the S95B quickly because of limited size options and product fragility. However, if you want a 55" or 65" the S95B cannot be beat.

¿How much blooming should I expect from this QN90B? Im used to almost flawless blacks with my 65" Q70R, almost no blooming nor local dimming issues at all, thanks to the high native contrast of the VA panel (higher than any of the new 2020/2021/2022 models) 7,250 : 1 without local dimming and 8,056 : 1 with local dimming. While it is true that the Q70R is a mid-high end, and you get incredibly pure and clean blacks at the cost of a little less brightness and shadow crush, I am afraid that having more localized areas will generate more blooming (I know it is counterintuitive) but it all depends on the implementation of the algorithm, and if samsung prefers to compromise pure black at the cost of higher brightness for HDR impact.

Definitely a better backlight performance out of the QN90B over the Q70R so you should see an improvement. If you watch from an extreme angle there is some blooming in challenging scenes and subtitles.

LD with Game Mode no VRR is like High local dimming just not quite as effective. Game Mode w/ VRR on loses the ability to have the high local dimming (it almost seems like this doesnt work with VRR which is likely the case) and then so id say VRR LD is similar to standard local dimming but maybe even a little less effective, but will still be decent and better than nothing. Hey KG, thanks for the insights on the new 90b. Been watching a lot of your videos recently as I'm trying to decide between oled, qd-oled and LCD (oh what a surprise :). Comming from a 1080p LCD btw. One of my biggest concerns is the automatic dimming on oled-type technology. Have my TV hooked up to my PC, functioning as a second "monitor". My usage case is some streaming, some PS5/PC gaming and also a fair share (+30%) of browsing websites (or i.e. watching youtube while NOT in full screen). What's your take on the dimming issue? Is that a (QD-)Oled-Deal braker? Is the constant brighness adjustment going to drive me nuts? Can't seem to find a clear argument for/against it. Cheers and keep that awesome content coming!

@@loki76 Well that's a bummer, but thanks for sharing. Happy to hear I made the right choice here. TBO Sony X95K would be my no 1 pick - if price wasn't an object. We'll see how it turns out. TV should be delivered hopefully sometime this week. I also considered the QN90B, but ultimately went for the QN95B mainly due to its better processing chip, and with the deal I scored it only cost me around 300 more than the QN90B, so easy choice.
