They won't ever do that because doing so would be admitting their error/mistake - and admitting defeat. They would "lose face" in the eyes of the world (in their minds) and that is entirely unacceptable to them. Keep in mind here that to add DV to their TVs would have only cost them less than $3 per unit. That's what this is all about. Less than a $3 licensing fee per TV sold.

I have a LG C1 OLED TV with a ZOOM button that lets me zoom in on part of the screen, which I use often. I think Samsung has a feature on one of its TVs that lets you change the size of the TV image on their 80 something inch TV from 80 something all the way down to 40 something. I think this is a great way to not have to look at giant faces when watching talking heads, just change to 40 or 50 something marches, then for movies or cinematic TV shows, which to FULL SCREEN SIZE. Does this all make Sense? Know of any makes and models of TVs with these features? Thanks!

I use the cinema zoom function on my old LG TV to drastically reduce the black bar real estate on the top and bottom of the screen. What I lose on the far left and right of the picture is to me a very small price to pay. Of course I would not admit doing this to any videophile, let alone post on the internet for all to see that I do this given that it is considered to be cinematic sacrilege 🙃

On my 43in QN90C, Filmmaker mode, in SDR, does not seem to be an dimmer than Standard, in HDR though, Movie and Filmmaker are much dimmer, even with Settings tweaked for full panel brightness. I have to use Standard mode for HDR movies cause the others are just too dim for my taste. (i still prefer SDR content though)

@@Mariarosa-id3cg Disagree. HDR has always looked like one is wearing sunglasses, at night... Filmmaker mode makes things too dark and has lots of black crush. You can not see any background details at all, or is always just s dense black fog. SDR versions of movies look far more realistic to me. Furthermore, I can not stand the very yellow color tone of Warm 2 they default to. Standard tone looks natural to me, whites are white, not tan/yellow. In the end, set your tv to what looks best to you, not what someone else claims is "best".

Agreed. This is 2024 now and you would think that all new TVs sold today would be sold with gigabit Ethernet ports and Wi-fi 7 built in. But, with most major brands now having announced their 2024 lineups today (except for Sony) none of them have incorporated either of those two technologies yet, even on their most expensive, highest-end models. Makes you wonder why especially since just about every customer out there is asking for them.

Actually, AR headsets and glasses like we are starting to see come out now will likely wipe out about 90% of the TV panel business over the next five years. Companies like Sony, Samsung, TCL, Vizio, Panasonic and Hisense will come out with their own headsets and glasses that will offer 70% of the functionality of the Apple Vision Pro for 30% of the price. Once those arrive, the TV panel business will likely be absolutely devastated as a result.

They don't tell you because they don't want you to be able to make your purchase decision based on a criteria that they don't think you should be making it on. Just knowing the number of dimming zones doesn't tell you which TV has better/more advanced local dimming capabilities. If the processor can't control those zones effectively, then you could have one million zones and it wouldn't do you a damn bit of good. This is why TVs with lower zone counts but better processors (like the Sony LED's) consistently outperform TVs with higher zone counts and weaker processors.

The QN90C used to be pretty high on my TV buying watchlist but with Dolby Vision steadily becoming the premium HDR format of choice for most streaming services as well as making its way more and more to 4K blu rays, I decided to scratch it off the list. I know that to a lot of people think the exclusion of Dolby Vision is not a big deal, but if you're paying a lot of money for a premium TV then you'd expect all the premium features. I doubt that Samsung will ever bow to pressure and finally start to support Dolby Vision but I kind of feel like they'll start to get left behind if they don't.

Agreed. All of Hollywood is moving in the direction of Dolby Vision now. Very few films are being released in HDR10+ today. It's really just a matter of time before Samsung will have to finally cave in and support Dolby Vision. Now, Dolby Vision isn't perfect and it still has its flaws and shortcoming, of course, but it is what the film industry has settled on for their default HDR format now it appears. Samsung can only try and buck that trend for so long.

@@michaelbeckerman7532 it’s kind of similar to the old blu ray vs HD DVD battle. Technically HD DVD was slightly better but blu ray had more backing from movie studios so it won out in the end. HD DVD went the way of the Dodo. I guess it’s the same with any competing technologies within the movie industry, eventually one will win out. Dolby Vision is winning the premium HDR format race and if Samsung continue to refuse to support it they could end up getting left behind.

Im still lovin and rocking my 1st gen neo, the QN90a! I gave my younger brother my LG BX oled and got the qn90a....night and day difference lemme tell ya! When my room is totally dark and free of any light source, and everytime my qn90a screen would go black, u cant even tell the tv is on or off the black lvls are that dang good, oled good even! I would consider a newer qn90 model, but according to reviews the newer ones havent been quite as good..almost! But not quite as good as the 90a. Maybe if this 90d is better i will get it. Would like one with newer features and a little brighter and a bit better picture quality then ya, ill definitely get this new one. The 90a has been very hard to match, let alone beat.....at least in my opinion anyways...

I seen that on amazon, $2,000 for the 55 inch with the "free" but not really free 65 inch tv. The qn90d will clearance at about $1200 so you're really paying $1200 for the qn90d and $800 for the "free" but not really free 65 inch tv...which is grossly overpriced.

I think this year the mini LED TVs are most exciting and most competitive than ever before. There should be a comparison test between Sony, Samsung, Hisense and TCL. And I forgot LG because they’ve changed their panel to VA panel which has better contrast, so they’re in the game for the first time.😅

It still suffers from blooming 😢. I can even see it breaking down in a bright room like the one in the video here. With that money you can buy a frecken qd oled that comes along with the best possible picture that is available at the moment. That comes from me who owns both the qn90b and the s90c, both 55 inches and let me tell you, nothing compares to a qd oled. A 65 inches tv like that should have at least 1.500 dimming zones to perform as it should. The 55 inches qn90b i have has only 504 and that's why it suffers during challenging scenes 😢. Yes the qn90b is still a great tv but I bet that if you compare the b with the d you won't find any major changes. The blooming is really horrible in dark scenes on the qn90b and it will be horrible on the qn90d as well. That's a fact I know from experience and noone can convince me otherwise.

@antisystemicparadise1202
@antisystemicparadise1202 6 ай бұрын
@@Rastor0 Who the hell can own a 98 inches tv anyway? Only a few can or have the space to make the proper setup. A 55 inches tv is most likely the way to go for the vast majority of people, the rest sizes above 55 inches are very difficult to deal with and most common people don't like that, so in my opinion if someone wants a new tv well a QD OLED or a MLA ate the only way to have peace of mind once and for all.
@antisystemicparadise1202
@antisystemicparadise1202 6 ай бұрын
@@TheNickoslicK Well don't worry friend, with a qd oled you'll have more than enough brightness trust me, I personally live in Greece and we have sun every damn day, so no matter where you are in your house, you will almost always be in a bright room, you can trust me on this one. Now of course those tvs are meant for dark scenes and this is where they truly shine, the rest is up to you of course but considering the prices, I would definitely choose the qd oled every time. Mini qleds are great but unfortunately they suffer a lot during challenging dark scenes and that will always be a big NO!! 👎 ⛔ until they make them better. If you want trust me again, the difference is chaotic, no matter what they say to advertise mini qled tvs as great they are not that great, they definitely have potentials yes but companies don't make them great as they should be, because they want to promote more the 8ks and their other technologies like qd oleds or mla panels when it comes to lg and so on, so they don't really care much about mini qleds as it seems. A mini qled tv must have a lot of dimming zones and I mean A LOT!! in order to match the quality of a qd oled, or anything else in this department. I like them too but companies must make them to perform better during challenging scenes. Trust me i was there and i still am sometimes because I also own the qn90b like I said, and unfortunately there is no comparison between the qn90b and the s90c. It's another freakin world. What I'm trying to say here is that buying a mini qled instead of a qd oled is a total waste of money, because they're almost at the same price, so why to even bother thinking about that?? QD OLED or MLA is the way to go.

Received a 43" QN90C last week and can't be more disappointed. The right half of the screen is much brighter then the left side. This washes out the colors on the right side. Also bad is the darkness in all of the corners and edges. Viewing angles are also horrible. I will be returning it and going back to my Samsung 4K from 2015.

It’s a guess,but I wonder if anything smaller than 55” version gets an edge lit led panel rather than a full back lit led array. I think I saw that somewhere. This could explain why dimming is stronger in those corners and some lack of uniformity.

@@TheNickoslicKnot really. 43" and 50" actually uses VA panel unlike the larger sizes that uses ADS panel. The smaller sizes are actually better for contrast and black levels since it's VA, while ADS (just an IPS version) is better at viewing angles and glare handling. They still use Mini-LED backlight just that the smaller ones will have better contrast and blacks, which is what you want in a tv

Well, after seeing this video (especially about the brightness) and some reviews of PC OLED displays (eg: The Display guy) : seems to me that the (upcoming) 4k 240Hz 32 inches are not that good, especially at their prices ($1199 or more) Can wait to see reviews of those QN90D... 144 Hz seems good enough for playing (PC) games 😋😎 EDIT : 240Hz would be great, but using which HDMI ? 2.1 ?
