I think that the slide is sensed using the same LEDs. There's a technique that uses LEDs as photodiodes.

took mine apart and mine was a 0.3 rev same as yours but it was working fine with latest android updates until i smashed it

Very interesting . Do different Samsung's have magnet sensors in different places? How does it know the cover is open/closed? Is there some "software" that's loaded from the case when it comes close? Is each none unique to that phone? I cannot get mine to work at all. Nothing shows, nothing seems to "connect" so how do you know the phone has detected it? I've managed to get another TEN so hopefully work something from that.

NFC needs to be enabled. There's an NFC tag inside that communicates with the phone.

@@datasilouk1995 just checked and it doesn't seem nfc tells the phone it's open. It should have a magnetometer or smth. Hence the magnet inside there

It should work of nfc.... not from wireless charger. Nice has low power to it. Plus the commutation aspect.

I think the NFC is for data and the coil is for induction/power

He said the only fix is an updated model of the LED wallet cover. The first iteration of the led wallet cover doesn't work with Android 9.
