I just purchased the QN85C over a S90C. I spent a lot of time researching and determined that the amount of use I put on a TV with 3 kids, I couldn't risk burn in. Super happy with my choice and the QN85C gives me picture quality so close to OLED, it wasn't a hard decision.

The main thing that sold me on the S90c vs any non-OLED tv is the sense of depth. The OLED TVs have noticeably more depth than non-OLED tvs do in person. There is just no way around it. It's phenomenal in terms of adding realism to the picture, and it is more important to the viewing experience than a few more nits of brightness. By far.

Speak for yourself. That viewing experience goes down the drain in a well lit living room. Not ideal to switch off lights and close curtains before watching some TV. That's where QLEDs come out better.

Same reason i prefered the QN90C over the S95C - the feeling of 3D in the LED version. I have a OLED LG B2 - black are super, white is neutral, but... no depth it the image. Other thing - in the shop i tested the S95C and QN90C for judder effect - the S95C had problems at 24 fps, the QN60C none. At 60fps both were ok.

Despite some of the nitpicky comments here, I thought it was an excellent video that touched on all the major points. I wish there was no such thing as burn in and that OLED came in 85", but many of us just don't want to even think about burn in or have to baby the TV. The OLED picture is incredible, but I do have a modern bright room with windows everywhere, I do watch shows with static images, and I play a ton of gaming with static HUDs., not to mention 85" is the minimum size I'll buy, so for me personally, TVs like the Samsung QN95C and the Sony X95L (which is the set I'm leaning toward for my next purchase), are close enough to OLED to make me happy.

I got "burned" by a plasma tv burning in 10 years ago. Have steered clear of any tech that can burn in. Have a qn95b 85 inch and it looks amazing compared to the js9500 I had in 2016. Skipping Oled. MicroLED (self emissive LED) is the future and death of OLED (and burnin) in 5 years!!
@nonfungiblemushroom Жыл бұрын
@@christophervasquez9088 I mean I get your qualms but it's kind of illogical to let one bad experience, one flaw, take your focus from all the good, no? I too bought a Panny plasma back in 2009. By the time I got my C9 in 2019 to finally upgrade, there was indeed permanent image retention on the plasma, mostly due to when I was going through a hard time in life and was playing a game called Tribes 2 for hours and hours at a time, no longer caring about burn in because I was just depressed. If I displayed screens of uniform colors, I could easily make out the HUD, windows taskbar, etc. However, so what? Movies and tv shows still looked great 99.9% of the time, save for the rare moment when there was a lot of uniformity And this was with really bad burn in caused by deliberate negligence. Plus I got 10 years out of that TV and the risk of burn in was a small price to pay for the numerous benefits of technologies like plasma and oled compared to lcd. Black levels, response time, motion, etc. All subjective, sure, and some find OLED's response time/motion to be harsh and jarring after years of being used to how lcd displays smear everything. But to me, someone who has used plenty of lcd displays but never once actually owned a dedicated LCD large screen TV, this is a benefit. Nowadays, LG especially, has implemented so many precautions to mitigate burn in that unless you plan to do something like I did, play one game for 5+ hours nonstop every single day, you likely have nothing to worry about and so much to gain from the benefits of such technology that is vastly superior to LCD.

Also, the QN90d is $1000+ more for minimum gains so it seems the best choice is the QN90c and when it comes to warranty, Samsung can't be beat. My current 8k QN850T (Costco) has had a consistent problem staying connected to my Vizio soundbar and the TV remote only intermittently works with it. Samsung came out and replaced the motherboard twice. The problem came back. They didn't have and equivalent model for replacement so they're refunding me the full retail price. Well, I can't say I agree. I don't have the QN90C, but I do own the QN90B and it's my favorite TV. I like it better than my LG CX OLED. For me the difference in black levels is very minimal and doesn't really make any difference to my viewing experience. I actually like the fact that the QN90B doesn't overly darken black shades, because on the CX dark shades look crushed and too dark in a way that doesn't look natural. But the main reasons I like the QN90B are related to color and motion. Colors simply look more pleasing on the QN90B. The colors are richer, thicker, more vibrant, yet still more realistic on the QN90B vs the OLED. The quantum dot colors look more similar to my plasmas' colors, which were the benchmark for me. Finally, motion is extremely important to me and the QN90B blows away the CX in this regard. First of all, understand that I will not use a sample and hold display. I came from years of owning CRTs and plasmas and good motion is as important as picture quality. So I use the black frame insertion mode on my TVs the entire time. The QN90B has smoother motion, especially for low framerate content like movies and 30fps console games. But it also has slightly clearer motion. Most importantly, though, is that it maintains 100% of its picture quality while using BFI, while the CX loses color saturation and accuracy and looks very dim and dull in comparison. This difference is like night and day and makes the QN90B the clear winner. The fact that I can play any game with any sort of HUD for as long as I want and not have to worry about burn in is also a big thing to me.

Great vid! Went with the qn90c 85” due to room brightness and having the space. Started with LG but the Samsung mini led put theirs to shame in person. Wanted an OLED and it would have been cheaper but the reflections are very real and a deal breaker. Well done, review much appreciated!

Thanks this review is really helpful. Here in the UK was deciding between the S90C (77") and QN85c (85") for seated approximately 12-13 feet from the screen. Big selling points for me and the reason I got an S92C was the off axis quality (as I use it as a second monitor so view from an angle) and the near perceptible input latency when compared to LCD which is a big deal for gaming.

I think the way those comparisons look in your videos is very misleading. Instead of putting both TVs next to each other and capturing it with one camera at the same time you should capture both separately with an ISO which looks close to how it looks in real and at the end you post edit. Simply crop the Tvs from the two different clips and put them side by side... everyone who is not into Tvs would think this is how dimm the s90c really looks.

Im still trying to decide this, 85" QN90C or 77" S90C. I'm 11 feet from the wall, and that wall is exactly 100" across. Part of me says go with the OLED for the better picture quality, but part of me says get the 85" and fill that wall space as much as possible, and be more immersed. 🤷🏿♂️

I had my both my kids (14 and 16) watch this entire video, in 1440p they both said the left side (s90c) looks brighter and better. This is really something for QD oled matching the 3rd place brightest TV of 2023 according to Rtings both in SDR and HDR nits. The QN90C was beaten by the QM8 (2nd) and the Samsung Terrace (1st) which is designed to be outdoors. There really is something to be said about "Perceived Brightness" and QD Oled tech. All the those additional layers and Local Dimming really pull back the overall brightness on a whats considered a Very Bright LED/MiniLED TV.

Depends on your use case. If you dont mind rainbow scattered reflections go with the VA panel. It has better black levels and is an excellent panel. If you hate the rainbow scattering wide angle layer then go with the ADS. The rainbow scattering only occurs when there are lot of reflections in the room onto the screen. For more logo protection that the TV claims to have, I have several KZbin video logos burned on the screen and I had to get used to that annoying burn. In addition, it was always annoying me how the oled tv lowered the brightness in many scenes so I have been looking for a lcd tv that was very good and right now it seems incredible to me how the qn90c is very close to an oled tv in colors without having to worry about the Strong brightness drops like in the 7:23 video that is very annoying to me when it happens or the screen burns.
