In my opinion, Samuel Eto'o is the ultimate all time best center forward. He made the difference everywhere he went. It's not too late for the world to recognize him. Football back in the days was the real deal; it was physical and defenders were more aggressive, it took reals skills to tear through unlike nowadays where every center forward keeps divivg for the easy way out "penalty". Football now is less entertaining.

As a Barcelona fan I can only say he is the BEST striker we ever had. By far. Luis Suarez not even close. People don't remember him very well but he was a beast against Madrid scoring many games in clasicos and giving leagues to Barcelona and 2 Champions League. Extremely underrated, every team feared him, pressing the defenders all 90 minutes was the key for high press and recovering the ball quickly. Fearless, one of those players that with Ronaldinho and Messi changed us to become a winning team. For me Eto'o is the best 9 of the last 20 years. Skill-wise only R9 surpasses him but longevity at top level, he is unique. His prime was his second season in Inter!!

His second season with Inter was great and of course he had it all : dribbling skills, pace, speed, finishing, vision etc. However he was a little bit better in 2006 and according to me the best in the world. I still remember his performance in champions league against Chelsea, Benfica (what a match !) and the final against Arsenal. Not to mention the classico in La Liga where he was amazing despite a great Ronaldinho who got applaudments from Santiago Bernabeu. However I understand your choice for his 2011 season because he single handedly carried Inter which didn't play really well so he was more seen than with Barcelona where he shared the spot. But for me, it was more difficult to play the way Eto'o did for Barcelona.

The maturity of his game truly blossomed then - hence the massive contract from Russia followed briefly making him the most paid athlete (after taxes) in the world.
