To me, the water looked best at ~13:30. Sparkling effects are nice and very well placed but lack radiance / starburst.

Hey, Mr Earp! Very good painting demonstration. How long did your block inn stage take in this painting? I tried to paint this scenery myself, one in oils and another one in acryllics. I did not make a value sketch or a color study, and I ended up bouncing back and forth making changes. Yes, it was exhausting, but they both ended up looking not so bad. Would be nice to send you a photo of my paintings, and hear what you have to say, Sam. I have had a few exhibitions, and I do exhibit regularely at 2 local galleriet where I live. I paint mostly landscapes, but I do sometime play around with abstract and surrealism. When trying to paint the scenery from your reference photo, there were many challenges, as always, but one thing stood out: how do I make the back mountain come "alive". The subtle greens are not easy, especially if you want that vibrancy of flickering warm/ cold effect, which only the eyes can pick up. With all your experience on plein air, you know what I mean. When I attempted to paint from your ref photo, I did it because it was beatiful, but the real reason was to see how realistic I could make it . I think plein air is essential to really paint realistic landscapes. When was your first experience with plein air? Have a good day Eleo (Norway)
