Samurai Build (Part 16) Oils, Fluids, and Test Drive!

It's time to see if my work is going to hold up! But first, I need to fill up everything with oil, top off all of the fluids, and torque down some bolts. Tune in for some driveway crawling on 26" tires!

Enjoying the build videos, I had an SJ 413 LWB a few years ago that had a 6.5:1 low range, ARB front and rear diff locks, heavy duty half shafts, 4" lift to go with the 31" tires, heavy duty clutch, new front bumper with a winch and power steering using an old Jimny setup, still had the 1300cc engine, slow on the road but superb offroad, looking forward to seeing your finished Samurai.

Hey! Great video! When you are talking about coolant you are mentioning "going with what the manufacturer recommends". I am trying to find out my self, since Suzuki is recommending "Golden Cruiser 1200", what kind of coolant that is equivalent to and it seems to be an Ethylene Glycol. Isnt that supposed to be red or orange in color?

The original stuff that Suzuki recommended is pretty outdated. When I researched I found that everyone was using the green Prestone with success. Its said to be needed every 30k miles. Mine had green in it when I bought it. Read the back and make sure it is compatible. 👍🏻

@@FortuneOffRoad depends by the material of the radiator. I have aluminum with g12(pink) coolant. No problems all this years.

So I’m trying to figure out where do I put the transmission fluid for the 86 samurai. Talking about in the gear housing

If you look on the bottom of the transmission tail area, you'll see a drain plug. On the vertical side you'll see a plug with either a hex head or a 3/4 square. I used a 15/16" on mine, just don't strip it!

On the transfer case I don't remember off the top of my head.

@@FortuneOffRoad thanks big time! Low range off road had said the Gear oil for it was a Go4 or Go5 one of those as an additive for brass parts. What did you use?
