Dude re the hole saw… DUH… you just had a monster step bit… THAT WENT TO 3/4 as well!! (dumbass) But go 5/8 and skip the grommet anyway.
@GotScout16 сағат бұрын
Next time just drill 5/8” and ditch the grom, add a drop of epoxy, done.

Can you run spacers for the pitbulls? otherwise get some low backspace wheels I guess. Generally AT's are better in snow than mud tires. Could get a groover or add some siping to them.
@FortuneOffRoad8 күн бұрын
My thoughts too on the groover! I like ATs too, but it would be hard to find some in a size like this. My buddy has some 42x14.5 pitbulls and they kill it in the snow. Hopefully these will too! 🤓
@FortuneOffRoad8 күн бұрын
The wheels are 3.5 BS so I dont want much more leverage on the studs and ball joints. I'll just limit the travel for now. Don't need mu much for the snow
Only did about 5000 miles before selling them. They were great, but I switched to a heavy gooseneck trailer and decided to go back to the stock size to get the max towing/braking back. I would definitely get some again, though!

I just started getting in to offroading and my goal is to do the Rubicon with my '86 Tintop in the next couple years once I get some more experience and build up my rig better.

Look under a ~95 or so Explorer, they have a parking brake splitter/slack adjuster in the rear that does what you have made up in a clean factory package. I swapped it in to my 90 XJ when I pulled the 8.8 out of the explorer.

I know I'm late but I'm looking into designs to make a bed rack for my tacoma and was wondering how does mounting stuff on with the dimples you made work?
@FortuneOffRoad17 күн бұрын
The dimples just add rigidity, so if you wanted to mount something, you could drill into the metal or strap in on through the holes.

Yeah, the pressure isn't fun. But building the rig takes away from the fun of wheeling the Jeep. Seat time is most important to me, but I enjoy the build process just as much

I'm installing this at the moment, The bolts that are tacked into the fuel pump mounting brackets are all crooked as can be, making it very hard to line those bolts up with the fuel pump holes. I drilled the fuel pump holes out a little bigger and put the brackets in a vise and carefully bent them as straight as I could. Unfortunately, I've ran into tolerance issues like this before when using Motobilt parts.

My best advice for lights, wire them with relays so you don’t have to fumblefart with switches in the dark bouncing down a trail. I have foreward lights on an “enabled” switch so they will only work with high beams. Reverse lights come on only when in reverse with high beams (no switch). It makes you , and your buddies experience better. Camp area flood lights, and rock/ ditch lights can be on a similar switch with parking lights.

Permanently welding a jack in place. Wow! Kinda like welding wheel lug nuts to the studs. Could not weld tabs to extend the plate and drill holes?
@FortuneOffRoadАй бұрын
Sure, i could've done that. If I had to replace it, it would be quicker to cut and weld on a new one than to weld tabs and Re-drill a new one. 3 years and going strong 💪🏻
