Substantial has an album (To This Union A Sun Was Born) that was produced mostly by Nujabes (which means there's thousands of dedicated Nujabes fans that still haven't heard all of his stuff). Just gonna throw some facts out there. Could just be some haven't dived that much into music(yet) :) Nujabes(RIP) produced the main theme they are covering which is "Shiki No Uta". Nujabes as some of you may or may not know created some of the most beautiful metaphorical music ever, ironically that is also the name of his first Album "Metaphorical Music". In shortest explanation it's a combination of HipHop and Jazz. Quoting Masta Ace "Ain't nothing like HipHop music, that's why we choose and the world just can't refuse it" Hiphop flourished and came to be because of Disk Jockeys / DJs creating the art of the turntables or Turntablism. The sounds that were being created and made HipHop were of older songs or oldies in general terms. Samurai Champloo being the Anime at hand here, is unique and helps understand people see the connection here with everything. Champloo means blend/mix, so Samurai Blend/ Mix. If anyone hasn't seen the anime please go watch it, it's even free to watch here on KZbin. The world they are set in is unique just like HipHop as you'll see things from that era perfectly blend in with certain aspects of things that are modern and shouldn't even be there. The easiest distinctions are presented with Jin and Mugen. Jin as the traditional formal Samurai down to his personality,clothing and way of talking. While Mugen is the opposite and presented to be a street brazen hoodlum, and his fighting style is practically b-boying breakdancing. * My washer is done so gotta go* Point I'm trying to get to is this isn't simply Anime music and also this song samples another song already. Called "Make Love 2" by Kip Hanrahan. ✌
