god, this ending just makes my heart hurt. It's basically just fuu reminiscing about her childhood, and when I finally finished the show and watched the ending for a first full time, I was literally bawling. It really puts emotion behind these seemingly meaningless photos. The innocence of Fuu's youth, her mother's fading impression because of her early death, her father's abandonment, and fuu's glorification of him. sun flowers don't smell like anything. please just do yourself a favor and go watch the show.

After revisiting old memories of her family she realizes that it'll never be the same. Not only are they dead but she has also parted ways with Mugen and Jin and you can sense her pain and loss at the end when the hair covers her face and she's looking down. Now she's alone again.

On my first trip to Japan, I stayed in an older than old ryokan in Kyoto located in Ishibe-koji (a section of Gion). I quietly played this song while we set up for the night in our yukata on our tatami mats, the room'd paper windows carefully slid open for a bit of air as a few late-night folks hushingly walked by along the cobblestone streets. It was incredibly peaceful and lovely. If you have a chance to visit Japan, please do. As fun as Tokyo can be, Kyoto has so much ancient allure.

Wall of text incoming This ending is truly perfect. There are only two animated parts: the beginning and ending of the song, which are cemented as the present. The rest of the song are stills that dont quite paint a full picture but rather the emotions that Fuu felt. This serves a second purpose as a simple, beautiful backdrop that doesnt pull us away from the song. The song is the core of this ending, not the animation or story it's telling, and the creators recognized that by putting it on the front stage. The lyrics for this song are...poetic to say the very least. Look them up, they fit the song perfectly, they paint a story of a loved one leaving. Its descriptive and you might think it was written just for this ending. More on the narrative: Fuu starts the ending by looking at the ocean, crying as she's overwhelmed by emotion, where we see her childhood memories, bits and pieces of her life that she clearly remembers but also blurry memories of her dad, where he's obscured. At the end of the ending, Fuu is looking downwards and we see her from behind; the light from the horizon is no longer on her. All her memories were vibrant and bright, but now she's alone in the dark. We've now seen everything she's seen, its a painful and a heavy burden that she has to carry. Notice that the song doesnt end, it continues as everything fades out. She doesn't move on. I wouldn't hesitate to call this a masterpiece in every single way. Truly its a work of art that makes you feel. Thank you for reading.

The latter half with that part with sunflower image brought me absolute nostalgia of the time when I watched it in animax just to see the ecchi scene that must have been shown in its ad promo. That's why this is in very good anime outr playlist

Every time this came on after the episode ended, it made me feel very relaxed and happy. It gave me another feeling too, but I can't explain it 😭

Before finishing the anime I always felt nostalgic looking at the pictures in the ending. I loved the song and always found it beautiful, smooth, and calming, it made me feel a certain way so I would never skip it! After finishing the show the ending is even more somber and precious than ever. I've been looking at an album of Fuu's childhood and it's no wonder that sunflowers are so significant to her 💖🌻

I remember back in January 2016, when I was listening to anime radio, this song came out and I loved it soo much that I downloaded the song and watched the anime. 3 years later I still have this song on my phone, and when I listen to it I always repeat it, so I can remember 2016, and how it was the best year of my life

Man I cant lie this song has a very special place in my heart like "wind" by Akeboshi. Just the mood it sets made me feel like everything was going to be alright at a time in my childhood where it definitely was not. I remember recording it on my flip phone back in late 2006 and it has been my one of my first alarms in the morning ever since right along with "wind".

Does anyone else just wanna give Fuu a nice big heartwarming hug? Especially while listening to this & seeing her all alone like that on the shore, reminiscing about her depressing childhood... 😪💔

It's a 8pm, you just finished eating dinner. You then take a shower, after being cleaned in your comfortable clothes, you then turn on your tv. It switch the channel to Adult Swim, a Family Guy episode just ended, and now you're watching Samurai Champloo. After the episode, you get ready to go to bed with the tv still on, playing the outro song. You turn off your tv, and now you're sleeping. Goodnight

I loved the last episode of this show, as someone who’s about to go to highschool it feels sad leaving so many old friends behind but thats just life. I wish we can just have a goal in life that can never be achieved so we can all stay together, the ending to champloo just made me cherish the time with my friends a lot more and its sad seeing Fuu, Jin, and Mugen all go on their separate paths. Gotta be in my top 5 favorite anime.
