How to create consistency in men's haircuts

Great tip, One questions until now no one has explained . Please please do visual detailed video on this asap much appreciated My question is When a client brings in a picture how do you breakdown the haircut to know how that cut was done. in terms of angles ,is it square , circle triangle? increase volume in certain areas etc. A lot of haircuts just show a cut and the look but no details about why the hair was cut in that angle? I think a lot of other new hairdressers may need to know this as they dont look lost during a consultation. Thank you

love this tip as I prefer to cut mens hair from the top down to create a leaner shape. I've been more mindful lately of elbow position and creating cleaner cutting planes.

My question is how do you compensate for the salt-n-pepper short hair styles that create the illusion of holes without actually making a hole in error? Hi Betsy... this is Andrew commenting... that's a really hard one because you can't control the pattern of the grey. I've found that if there are strong lines, using a blending shear to just lightly break up the line between the two colors helps. Unfortunately, once you get down to clipper or shear over comb length, it becomes a lot harder to work with those illusions. One way would be to talk him into a color :-) I wish I had a better answer for you my friend!

The best solution we've found is sprinkling a little bit of that colored hair fiber powder stuff.. totally blanking on the name right now but you guys prlly know what I'm talking about. Not a long term solution, just helpful for special events or important photos.

To be honest, I think most people don't pass based on things like sanitation and the legal and safety issues... BUT! That true state board 90 degree haircut is an awesome h/c to practice because there is no room for error. How to get better? Do it a lot! Good luck on your new adventure in hair!
