San Antonio Missions: Mission San Jose and Mission Espada | San Antonio TX
This week on our Sunday Side Trip, we take you along to one of our favorite things to do when we visit San Antonio, Texas... join us as we explore the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park! This collection of 4 Spanish missions from the 1700s is a World Heritage Site. Each of the Texas missions is unique and has its own story to tell. Today, we'll take you along as we explore Mission San Jose (also known as Mission San José y San Miguel de Aguayo) and Mission Espada (Mission San Francisco de la Espada). We'll also make a stop at the historic Espada Aqueduct, built in 1745 to direct water to the crops at Mission Espada from the San Antonio River, it is the only remaining Spanish colonial aqueduct remaining in the USA. Put the San Antonio Missions National Park on your list of best tourist attractions in San Antonio as you travel Texas.
The San Antonio Missions are a must visit for anyone interested in Texas history or free things to do in San Antonio.

You should address the fact that the native Indians were enslaved in cases and forced to become catholic, not simply taught. There was an abusive side to the occupation by the Spanish in trying to lay claim to the land.
