Wowww I did this last week and it is sooo different since all of the rain this year. Wayyyy too many rocks but it’s definitely a fun challenge.

I went to highschool in Poway and back about 20 years ago this trail was unknown and completely empty 99% of the time. I rode it quite a bit from lake Poway up to the top then back down. Its been overrun now and I dont think I would do it again but it was fun when it was empty.
@MTBTrailReview4 жыл бұрын
I bet it was awesome when it was empty. I can't even imagine doing it to and from the lake now.

where is the entrance to the single track? I know the fire road is on the 67.
@MTBTrailReview4 жыл бұрын
It's right off the 67. If you type the Fry Koegel Trailhead into Google Maps, it should take you there. There's no parking right at the trailhead, though.

Way to many hiker's on that trail...I go riding to get away from people.
@MTBTrailReview4 жыл бұрын
I definitely get that. This isn't one of those rides I want to do regularly, but the novelty factor was pretty cool.
@trailladymtb77004 жыл бұрын
Geez, that is waaaaay too many people to ride safe and comfortable. Even my local trails have exploded with people who weren't there before. In the last two years on trails, I've been run off a trail, and I've had riders come at me head-on when they weren't paying attention. I had to holler at them to not hit me. Glad you were respectful. Looks like a neat place to ride.
@MTBTrailReview4 жыл бұрын
This is one of those places that's more of a novelty, and you have to expect to run into hikers. It's one of the most popular hiking spots in San Diego. I would definitely do it again, but I won't do it regularly.

Nice ride, lots of hikers though. What is your opinion on wearing clip in shoes?
@MTBTrailReview4 жыл бұрын
I prefer flat pedals, but I say wear whichever you prefer. They both have advantages and disadvantages.

I love this hike but i don't think its bike appropriate
@MTBTrailReview4 жыл бұрын
I think as long as you go early and are extra friendly, it's fine. All of the hikers were really cool, and a lot of them were actually cheering us on. It's really just that very top section where we were on the heavily trafficked trail.

There's not really an address. We parked off the side of the road with nothing else around. Using Strava will be your best bet to take the same route we did. If you type Fry Koegel Trailhead into Google Maps. I think it takes you to a good starting point, too.
