I just got a dirt jumper last month. I live in San Marcos and have been riding Bradley Park. I’ve only gone like 5 times so far, but can already tell it’s helping my MTB skills. Much more comfortable going off jumps now. I still only do basic jumps, but before I’d avoid every jump. Do you still ride yours a lot?

How is the trail that goes along the San Dieguito river? Does it connect Del Mar to penasquitos?
@jeffarcher400Ай бұрын
When in Laguna I also like the trail from the Redtail roost parking lot. When it ends on the fire road you can go right to Escondido ravine and come back up on either the single track or the road or go left to Agua dulce and Gatos. There's also a little known trail from the observatory parking lot that goes back to Thing valley road. Turn left to return to the highway.

I went there on opening weekend and the place was a little bit of a mess. I went back a few months ago and it was clearly obvious they are doing a lot of work to make the place better. I'm glad to see them hard at work.Building more trails and making the place truly worth the sixty dollars. The chair lift is not a rumor. Steven Ford said He really Wants to put in a chair lift if the place becomes economically viable. He did a podcast with mark from the segment that breaks down the future plans

I'm in the market for a new bike, I have the option between a GT Sensor Comp 140mm/130mm trail bike and a Marin Alpine Trail XR 160mm/ 150mm enduro bike. The Marin is an enduro and a huge spec up from the GT BUT they are priced similarly right now. Would it be smart to get the bigger bike for the same amount of buck as the smaller bike? I'm riding the same trails you ride for the most part. Local single track, no parks, some chunky downhill etc. I will be for the most part "over-biked" but is that such a bad thing when you save on better components?
@MTBTrailReview10 ай бұрын
That's a tough question, and really it all comes down to personal preference. I prefer the way a trail bike rides. If it's only a few parts, and you prefer a trail bike, it might be worth it to get that and slowly upgrade as things wear down/break. Once again, I would say it really depends on your riding style and preference. Good luck!

I am a local from Temecula. Ive been to to this place 3 times and can’t recommend it less. First time waited hours for my first run because someone got “seriously hurt” and they couldn’t find them; guy was at the bottom connecting trail and it was a sprained ankle, Only had 2 runs that day. And they closed the park because the single fire road is the only way up or down. Second time I went i had to walk all the way back down because i popped my tire on exposed chicken wire from a rock garden. Third and the last time I hit a jump that i just plowed through the lip as it collapsed and went over the bars and broke my collarbone. This place feels rushed, half assed, just a quick money grab while MTB is exploding in the area. Never coming back much better and cheaper places to ride in the area. Nowhere near as good as vail.

@jeffarcher400Ай бұрын
Ted Williams has some gnarly stuff but last time I was there someone told me the cops were just there and busting anyone biking. People ride Corral canyon and McCain valley. Both are ohv areas but when I rode dirt bikes we didn't mind sharing. We can't discuss unsanctioned stuff or it'll be shut down. I just rode up Volcan mountain and it's even got a sign saying ok for class 1&2 ebikes. All the hikers seemed chill but I always yield to them. It's steep even with ebikes. The view is worth it. Further down the road is the Preserve and it's got a nice climb to a scenic meadow loop. You can also drop down to Santa Ysabel and have a backup vehicle there or it's a serious loop back up on the road with traffic. These aren't hairy difficult terrain just less well known and tough enough to feel like you did something special. I tried riding up to the Potato chip rock from Lake Poway and it was too tough for old me. Lots of steps. Going down would be fun for bold riders. I don't know how you'd loop it. There's a trail going off to the right going up before the stairs that should get to the highway then there's another trail I haven't tried up to the Potato rock that's single track. Then down the steps and back to the lake. Check on Google Earth. I might try that soon. You can ride into the Valley of the Moon in Jacumba. That's another not scary but difficult climb into a really special place. Climb the peak to Elliot mine and if it's calm you can yell and get a dozen echoes off the granite monoliths. You can access the closed valley by crossing the granite slabs at the campground but it's closed to motor vehicles. Cross the freeway and hit Table mountain roads and you may see the Carrizo gorge trestles. They used to ride on those but it's really falling apart and dangerous now.
