Unfortunately, it's by choice, a bad one too. There's one Pinoy nurse who's homeless too. Nursing are still one of the most in demand jobs especially right now, and still one of the high paying jobs. So I'm not sure how could that guy be homeless. He could even find a job as a live-in personal nurse or even as a CNA or caregiver if he lost his nursing licensure, that usually guarantees a permanent housing and still make good money. Unfortunately, high rate of homelessness happens in Democrat run cities where homelessness is a preferred choice. In NYC, some of these homeless people are being housed in luxury hotels. Not sure which hotel the guy in this video is being housed at but for some stupid reasoning, he prefers to live on the streets. That only shows what kind of mentality some of these people have, and I doubt if he has any sort of psychiatric issues.

Every situation is unique. We should not judge them po. Sometimes sa buhay may mga pangyayari that is beyond our control. As you have said tayong mga pinoy maparaan. Pero talaga namang may mga pagkakataon po na no matter how we try talagang aabutin ng malas. Hindi naman po ibig sabihin na may mali na kaagad sa tao dahil nagkaganyan ang buhay. Kahit ganyan po sila now hindi naman po ibig sabihin that something is wrong with them. Let's look at the good side po ng tao. Hwag kaagad manghusga kasi iba.iba po tayo ng pinagdaanan.

I do agree with you po regarding the existence of mental health problems that need to be dealt with. Sad to say, there are still a lot of our kababayan who are either not aware of mental health or are just too scared to seek help for mental issues because they don't want to be tagged as baliw or something. Whether we admit it or not marami pa mga pinoy na medyo kino.consider pa na taboo yung magse.seek help for problems like depression or even alcoholism. Pag nakikita ka nagpunta ng psychologist sasabihin na kaagad baliw ka. This I think is one of the stumbling blocks why maraming tao na even if aware sila about depression etc they still don't consider seeking professional help as their option.

“You can always find a job in America” is easier said than done. With the economy landslide in 2008, the effects of the plunge was felt until around 2012. Then, within a decade, this pandemic hits. It is a very competitive city with high cost of living. Those who used to shuffle 3 jobs in a week now have none due to the inability to open even the smallest of businesses. Moms and Pops shops are slowly deprived of chances to survive, more so restaurant and hotel workers. There seems to be a disconnect on what people think of how “easy” it is to work in America rather than what is really happening.

There are many reasons for how they have become homeless or remain homeless (by choice; limited/lack of affordable housing; lack of skills to sustain a job/self-sufficiency/inability to maintain housing; stuck in the process; mental health; do not want to pay for such svc attached to having a home..etc). Unfortunately, the approach to "fixing" homeless is not a one size fits all. Some would prefer to be homeless instead of paying their share of the rent, utilities, which would leave them with less money to spend on "treats," unable to complywith housing rules or just want to be left to do what they want but with everyone's help. It is easy to blame society or government for failing to house the homeless. The homeless are survivalist who have figured out how to get on the welfare program, get free things and still keep their money for their treats without any responsibilities and no expectations from society to do anything for themselves. We keep investing on housing for the homeless without a return on investment such as seeking mental health svcs, harm reduction or cessation of drug/alcohol use, or medication regimen. No different from someone who has knee problems who wants a knee replacement surgery but no will to change their lifestyle: eating habits and lack of physical activity.

@dinemalphrus16154 жыл бұрын
First of all, the housing in America in general is so expensive. If you earn a minimum wage, no way you can rent an apartment. When reach 60 years of age and u have no house yet or still halfway done paying it, for sure youll be homeless because what you get in social security is not sufficient to sustain your needs.

@@dinemalphrus1615 most single Pilipino rent bed space or room only and they still maintain employment, even though they are way pass seniority and need to rest, they still work part time and collect SSS that too is additional income... but this pandemic hit most if not all of us hard than we can imagined so this is the bad situation most of us faces..

Easier said than done. NYC, Cali, Chicago, Florida, and major cities in the US are expensive to live in. There are people who make $100k plus a year and still struggle. You cant live on your salary alone. Credit cards, personal loans, or gov welfare supplement with the cost of living. Literally, every American has some kind of loan or in debt until we die.

This is really a heart breaking sight, the shame of going back home to the Philippines shouldn’t be the reason why, but I would go back to the Philippines at least I have a place to call it home with their families still there (In the Philippines). Perhaps lack of papers ( legal documents from immigration), lost of jobs, use of illegal drugs can be some of those reasons why they consider staying on the streets under the radar. I am a proud Filipino and proud to be an American citizen, but to live on the street this way, I would consider right away to go back home, because I will be a lot closer with my friends and family.

Just leave California. The public officials of California are mostly democrats and they are all useless. Look at what they did to California. Pelosi, Newsom, Kamala Harris, Californians voted for you so what happened to your promises? The cost of living in California is unbelievable. Even if you work three jobs you can’t afford the rent. Pelosi would rather give away American money to other countries than help its own people. Charity begins at home.

Not all people who live in trailers and mobile homes are failure some likes that kind of lifestyle and some are very practical too for me that doesn’t entitle them as a failure. Being a failure is when you tried to kill yourself for no reasons at all. Another failure is when you had bad choices and yet didn’t find solutions to make it right.
