Why is living in a car illegal honestly? Because you can’t charge them for doing it?
@zeex42804 жыл бұрын
Bingo!
@simonsimon41314 жыл бұрын
More likely because it is not wanted in a modern society to have large groups of people living that way. It would create social, hygienic and pollution problems. That said, if you can't afford a house, what options do you really have. It might help if US society was ever so slightly less focused on the individual and slightly more on the welfare of society as a whole. But that would mean paying taxes that don't benefit you as an individual directly and that ofcourse is what the US citizens perceive as socialism. And that's bad.... apparently.

@Tucker Stafford and who said people are going to do that? You think most people will be living in a car and bring a child into the world? I doubt so
@SkilledEddie4 жыл бұрын
Simple Simon no it's because it doesn't fit in with the sheep lifestyle. Go to college, have kids, buy a house be a slave for 30 years, grow old, retire and do the same thing 100 billion other people do. Must suck to be living life in a mold. I get why people like that life but the problem is a lot don't do it because they like it, they do it to keep up with the Joneses
@ActOutYourLife4 жыл бұрын
Tucker Stafford clearly a comment made by someone who has never experienced financial struggle. If she just "drove to Minnesota" she'd be out of a job, so how would she afford a place to live, college tuition, and everything her daughter needs for school THEN if she can't afford it now? She would need a lower cost of living to even be able to save to do something like that....

I have been homeless before in fact I kind of chose it this time. It is just me I don't have a family to care for and I'm the kind of person who adjusts easily to basically any situation I find myself in. I couldn't see the sense in paying rent anymore after I got my cargo van it was like a blessing to me to not have to pay rent anymore. I only have small bills now like my gym membership, phone, car insurance. The thousand a month spent in rent goes into my bank account now. And I'm not really all that uncomfortable either with the way my cargo van is set up. I can lay down flat on a mattress, I have heat and a.c. fans, power inverters and USB ports for phone ,laptop whatever, I go to laundry mats, shower at the gym, attend church events to be socially active and work out at gyms instead of sitting on my couch in an apartment cramming junk food into my face watching t.v. waiting to kill over. I'm actually living a better life now.

I hate to say it but I think you're right. My brother finally finished his degree at 47 at it has done not a damn thing for his job prospects in the 15 months since. Coincidentally he became homeless because he was so sold on the idea that finishing his degree was going to turn everything around (he'd lost his job and was driving for Uber full time in a city where that does NOT pay well and taking out title loans on his car) that he skipped paying his rent for three months to pay his last semester's school fees. He thought he'd land a job before the semester was out, pay the back rent and everything would be cool. Instead he got evicted and ended up having to move back to the town we grew up in and move in with our parents for a year. I think she'd be better off forgetting school and getting a second job. Especially since she's almost certainly paying for school with loans, which she'll need to pay back whether her job prospects improve or not. It's hard to know what to do. If you don't go to school people blame you for not getting more education. If you go back to school people blame you for wasting money and time. It's a gamble either way. I will say that families have to help each other...maybe they’ve tried but honestly we have always supported some family members financially. It’s just the way life is. It breaks my heart to think of someone living alone in their car. It’s dangerous. And unhealthy (hard to cook). they should set up tiny house communities in these places or at least provide access to a kitchen at a church or sthg for people to cook...
