I feel like San Martin read the room making a 36mm case when Tudor missed the mark. That said, I would like San Martin to shave 2mm off the height by using a PT5000 or Sellita. The NH3X series is phenomenal but for thinness either a ETA clone or Miyota movement would be appreciated. Great review and loving the macro shots!

Got the 36mm and love it. 2 changes i would like: - mirror like polished hands tips are too shiny. Would have liked some nicely brushed one - AR coating should have been clear, no blue tint. It makes the dial a little bit foggy in some circumstances

LOVE when brushing on lugs matches the bracelet. This is ridiculously nice looking. I’ve vowed to never buy a homage in the 95%-100% copy range, but I’m going to break that with this watch most likely.

The lug to lug and dimensions are spot on for my 6.25’ wrist, the movement is great the only thing I would change would a be a gilt dial. If they were to change it to a gild dial (like they are doing with the 38mm version that is now on pre order but too big for my wrist) I would have bought this already!

Nice! Many will like these upgrades. I own the "V1" and I'm pretty happy with it. My only gripe is that the faux patina is a little overdone. And perhaps they should do something about the crown, a larger one but with finer knurling, just a little more Tudorish and of course the proper no date NH38 would be nice.

Wow those applied numerals look amazing I wished somebody would have done it when the Ranger homages were coming out. I went with the Pagani Design to save money and the beautiful shiny black dial, and also because the competition had also No applied numerals. I think I will get this one now and pass down the Pagan to my friend. Love this design of watch I know its no for everyone but I love the simplicity of it. The hands are different then the traditional Mercedes of traditional "T" hand of tudor

I am very tempted to pick this up just to put it side by side with my Traska Commuter. Gorgeous tool watch. Honestly though, with how much I've spent on 36mm black dial watches, I could probably have bought a proper Explorer by now.

I have both watches and I like the SM so much more. My commuter's dial is full of QC issues (crooked 12 markers, misaligned logo, poorly finished hands), and the finishing overall feels much better on the SM.

@@powerchuffer My Traska is ever so slightly misaligned at the 12 (only really visible if I'm looking for it but still) and maybe it's how I stored it but it seems like the bracelet has already stretched. Really tough not to want to sell it, get this SM and pocket the difference!

I was thinking the same thing. I have the 39mm SM, but I'm really liking classic smaller watches lately. These comments made me look carefully at my Commuter: I bought it pre-owned. It's a no-date and I think it was one of the very early Commuters. As near as I can tell, my Traska is perfect. No QC issues at all.

@scottparis6355 Hah, I actually bought the quartz Watchdives Ranger just recently for like $75 and it's not much worse than the Commuter either. Some sharp edges but a nice watch head and decent bracelet. For the price I can't complain.

Almost perfect watch. Ive ordered it now. The 36mm. Only nitpicking is the red part, and that the 2 at 12 has that roundish thing at the lower part of 2. But otherwise... Superb.

I bought the 38mm version of this watch (havent received it yet) from san martin aliexpress and it said new 2023 3d hex logo, nothing about the indices so i just found out lol. the model is the SN0107-G1 and the color description on the site is Applied Logo BGW-9 but from the pictures everything else is applied too. Also didnt know I was getting their new case so yeah, very nice!

Fantastic intro ! Nice watch too. This will be suitable for so many people. With my 8.1" wrist it looks a bit small on me so definitely a minimum 38mm though I prefer 42mm as a general rule. It's a pity they didn't use a no date movement like the NH38 or even a higher beat PT movement. For the price the NH35 is a bıt cheap and lazy. The NH35 is definitely very reliable but when you're spending more you should expect more. Just a tip for a sharp edged case. 1. Put some masking tape on the side of the case to protect it. Then spend around 15 minutes gently rubbing the edges with 600 grade emery paper and it will make it very smooth. I did it most recently on a Pagani Mission to Uranus moonwatch and it is sılky smooth. No sharpness at all!

Still haven't been able to wear it, have it for almost a month now, A friend has send me some extra links...which are in the mail, which takes weeks these days.. The mail got privatised here, so bye, bye, service.. San martin sells these watches , but you can not order extra links, and they only sell them in Hobbit size.. :( . Wednesday, my extra links have arrived in the mail :) Wearing my watch now, one extra link, well 3/4th of it actually, was all that it took. Now it fits. ( hanks Mike!). Needed 15 links to make it fit.

Steve do you have any idea why San Martin have priced their 36mm datejust homage at $330 which is way higher than almost al their other models? Evn the bigger SN058 and SN059" with the same PT5000 movements are about $50 cheaper. Is the quality on that one that much better? Maybe you should review it.

$265 !!! For a San Martin !!! Bloody hell, they are not shy are they !?! For that amount of money I would stick with a genuine Seiko or Citizen. The only good thing here is that they are offering it in a 36mm case for those of us who don't need to over compensate ! Save yourself a heap of money and go for the Addiesdive AD2023 Explorer with the brilliant VH31 movement.

Very nice. I think the one looks large in the 12 as it is close to and larger than the baton fot the 11. Not enough to upgrade my V1 (especially as I got that for £182 delivered) If I was buying now though, I think the applied indicies are worth the extra cost. Thanks for sharing. I really want make end links, which is a very unpopular, but look at the 36 OP AND EXP from Rolex, the smaller lug to lug with male end links actually flows and drapes better. The female end links on here look weird because they jut out and open up and look weird

Really tough call. The Cronos is excellent other than the movement. If your OK with that (and the 36mm wouldn't be an issue with the NH35) I'd probably save the money and go Cronos. I do feel like San Martin still sells the "tightest" watch though...in terms of the bracelet and finishing and endlink fitment, the San Martin wins.

I'd actually say a little smaller, but marginally so. It's L2L is a touch shorter IIRC. But it's a little more slab sided being straight brushed sides, the more rounded and polished explorer sides help hide the thickness a bit better.
