Hi, I have just had the weirdest experience involving Terence Trent D'arby's song 'sign your name', well actually the video... I remember it completely differently.. I come back to this interview quite often because it is the voice of so much experience. While wise now, he went through really tough times. I love his reminder that we can experience a rebirth while we are alive. Thank goodness he has found/helped to create a family and is trying not to plant the seed of pain from his past life into the embryo of his future. That really is changing the world!

What a great singer and artist. I wish people would rediscover him again. He was seemingly black balled from the music industry. People grow...we are never the same from day to day as time marches on. Every experience changes who we are and how we think. I remember him as Terrence. He was awesome. The industry built him up, but he didn’t conform to what they wanted. He obviously pissed off someone with power and the media all of a sudden started tearing him down. They portrayed him as arrogant with a humongous self importance. Unfortunately, the public took the bait and turned on him...thus destroying his career. Terrence would have been a legend given time. He has a right to believe in his talent. The man is a genius. He is in the same category as Prince. I wish him all the best. I love his philosophy on life. I wish him much love and happiness. Prince...the most arrogant of all, but he played the game their way just long enough to get a loyal fan base and then started doing it his way. Then is career declined. Terrence was targeted by someone out to destroy him by planting the seed, period.
@DreIscariot4 жыл бұрын
I am rediscovering him now...Or it seems like I am now Discovering him!! I started by looking for 2 songs "Wishing Well" & "Sign Your Name". Then discovered this journey of 2 lives in a single being, in a single lifetime. I was surprised by the massive discography then the name change, which I could understand. However this Documentary really seemed to capture him & his life. It really broke things down to better understand & appreciate this wonderful person & his talent. Again we see the demons running the music industry. @Gregory Peters My only disagreement is with your harshness of Prince. This film clearly showed Terrence/Sananda was not arrogant but troubled & misunderstood. Which I believe to be the same with Prince.
@yvonnenoel72064 жыл бұрын
@Gregory Peters, I hear you. I have always wondered why someone, seemly so talented, can self destruct as badly. I ALWAYS that he was blackballed, because he didn't want to play their games. They tried it both with Prince and Michael, but their fan base saved them. Both Prince and Michael, were smart enough to to see the writing on the wall. I hope young artists are paying attention and not getting caught in that game.

This just reaffirms what I've been saying for quite a while: Men are complex creatures. We are not easily placated by sex and food as society has so woefully attempted to define us. In the Garden, God said, "It is not good that man should be alone". And God created woman. And man's love and desire for the beauty and grace of the female caused him to disobey God and to please her instead. This didn't work out well for anyone--slave to the created...not the Creator. So grateful for Terence' transparency and humility. May God continue to walk with him and reveal Truth.
@chidiejikeme48984 жыл бұрын
"Not so easily placed by sex and food" is so true but complicates reality too much for the "common sense ppl" who trade in potable "piecemeal packages" that are consequentially commercializable. Thanks for sharing ur very clear and relevant insight
@JarodMoonchild19754 жыл бұрын
@john foster, but he's not following the true God, but rather New Age, considering his "new name" as just a tiny bit of research would reveal to you easily. And no, not all roads leads to God, despite the fact that Oprah said so. All roads leads to Rome though, and what is the Roman empire famous for again? That's right, like all great empires before it, it fell. And there will be another Roman empire very soon, but that will be crushed too, but not before mankind has suffered greatly. 7 years of suffering like the world has not seen before that time. But I suspect you dont believe that, so all I can say to that is, good luck with that. Just wait and see, it hasn't started yet, but the Corona virus is a part of it, possibly the tool to bring the world economy to its fall. But I'm sure in your mind I'm just a crazy person, talking crazy. Give it time, you might be surprised when it happens. But by that time, it will be too late to stop it, and mankind will have to endure the long walk to the end of it, metaphorically speaking. But enough of that, cos I'm just a crazy christian conspiracy theorist, right? As I said before, good luck with that, lol.

Terence Trent D’arby is an artistic genius, and the music industry knew it very well. He was very smart and confident. He, or his music couldn’t be controlled by a record label. When the industry can’t control an artist, or their art (Masters). They use their massive public relations division. And put out that you’re difficult, or a prima donna and put your career on a shelf in oblivion. Michael Jackson and Prince had serious issues with their record labels. Eventually Prince owned his masters. Where are they now? (Guess who retained back MJ masters? ) They both died under suspicious drug overdoses. Prince didn’t have “ Slave” scribbled on his face for no reason. Terence is doing well. He lives in Milan, Italy. Probably saved his life. He has a beautiful wife, and a son and daughter. He still continues to perform amazing concerts all over Europe.

Better off I would say. 👏🏻 hellywood is terrible. Hence the amount of self destruction / suicides with great artists. Layne Staley said he felt like a commodity and granted his addiction issues, I would say that greatly contributed

So glad he's still here and in his right mind to tell his own story....And so glad I found this inspiring interview of him when I did as it has deeply inspired and encouraged me at this time on my life as a creative soul myself as well...and so glad he's found peace within and true love with his wife to continue his life journey on the other side of his ego death...and so happy he is still blessed and willing to continue creating and sharing his music and talent with us who have been day one fans of his musical gift. 🙌💓🙌

Talented, attractive, articulate, successful...It's a shame he apparently enjoyed it so little.

These older songs are still some of my favorites from any artist. As soon as the first note and beat starts, it takes me back down memory lane and this amazing soul singer really speaks to me. If he had never done any other music, these songs would still shine out in a sea of pop music.

Interesting. To say the least. Glad he's still here. Had no idea what happened to him. Figured I missed the news that day. Honestly. Lotta pressure on that woman of his. Hope it all works out for them.
