I was 15 yrs old come from Oklahoma when Hemisfair opened up and we went to The America’s of the Tower I stepped on the elevator and guy running the elevator how old is the Space Needle we called it then and he said young man it’s brand new and we were one of the first to go up the Needle. Me and my Grandparents spent 4 days there and we seen everything there. I wished after the Hemisfair they left the monorail & overhead cable car ride going that be so great for San Antonio today, but I had the greatest time of my life in 1968 and watching this on KZbin brings back lot of memories. I’m Jeffrey Hutton of Canton Lake, Oklahoma.

The video phones! I'd completely forgotten them! FUN! I have SO enjoyed this entire series! So many things are still quite fresh in my memories but I'd forgotten a lot, too. I do remember how disappointed Mom was when she missed getting to see Princess Grace! The world WAS much smaller then, as Eleanor Johnson said. The Hemisfair certainly did show "diversity" in a way I don't think anyone had ever experienced before in Texas, for sure, and likely the entire USA! As I said in comments at another of the videos, it exposed me to international cultures, and I later became an anthropologist. I do believe the Hemisfair was a direct influence on my career choice. It's been a great stroll down Memory Lane. Thank you so much, SanAntonioHistory! What a fantastic series of videos. I sure appreciate reliving those days, and learning even more about what was what back when I was 11 going on 12. What a fine time to be a young lady, to see everything for the entire year, too! THANKS!!!

One of the 6’ Olmec heads was in front of the University of Mexico building (Mexican Pavilion) until about 4-5 years ago, (don’t know where it was removed to) during one of the Luminarias on the grounds about 7 or so years ago, there was an audio/visual display that made the Olmec head look alive.. we watched it for a long time... HemisFair will never die as long as the Tower stands.
